White House Attacks CBO Over Minimum Wage Report (Truth:Obama :: Kryptonite:Superman)
Yahoo Finance ^

However, in a lengthy blog post on the White House web site, Jason Furman, chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers and Betsey Stevenson, a member of the Council, wrote, “The bulk of academic studies, have concluded that the effects on employment of minimum wage increases in the range now under consideration are likely to be small to nonexistent. CBO also agrees that the employment effect could be essentially zero, but their central estimates are not reflective of a consensus of the economics profession.”

The folks we elect to represent our best interests are simply failing us. And “we the people” act like it’s out of our control.

It’s about time this “non-partisan” agency tells the truth. CBO lied to the nation when it reported that ObamaCare wouldn’t cost a trillion dollars, thus helping Pelosi ram it through the House. Immediately after passage, the CBO revised the estimate to 1.5 trillion. This is another worthless government agency that needs to be investigated and abolished.

Hasn’t anyone noticed the soaring of teen-age unemployment and lack of summer jobs that accompanied the modest increase to $7.25 that occurred in 2009? If they did notice, why didn’t they comment? So often you see little shop owners with their lights on late into the night, hoping for that last customer to turn those last few dollars at the end of an 80+ hour week. To Obama , who writes his own check out of the federal treasury for his fabulous and frequent vacations, just like he handed out free ice cream to his choom gang buddies on his first job, those shop owners aren’t part of America. They are like the kulaks were to Stalin; eliminate them, their ideals and their ways from the grand edifice of social progress.

"but their central estimates are not reflective of a consensus of the economics profession."

Economics is a profession, now? What's next?

“Economics is a profession, now?”

That’s right, climatology is the only TRUE science.

Democracy is a wonderful thing... IF people can be trusted to be honorable.

Otherwise, it’s a petri dish for all the evils that come with representation by individuals who cannot resist graft and self aggrandizement.

As it is NOW-and on both sides, we have text book examples of the lowest and most venal people imaginable.

Not a single one is capable of putting his/her own self-interst second (or third, fourth or at the BOTTOM of the list) and the best interests of their constituents FIRST.

Small business owner brings his 4 minimum wage employees together and says, “today is your lucky day, President Obama has raised your hourly rate by 3 dollars an hour. That means you will each get 120 dollars more per week. Oh one thing only 3 of you have a job tomorrow. I have to pay for that 360 dollar increase somehow”

A "consensus" has been reached. The science is settled. The CBO economists are just deniers.

He’s laying the groundwork for Hillary and her “Third Way” Nazism/Fascism.

Recall Hillary when told her Hillarycare would destroy small business, she said she couldn’t be responsible for every under funded business.

Same thing is happening here with raising the min wage.

Zippo/Hillary intends to drive small business out of business and eliminate the competition for big business.

You don’t need a hamburger from Mom & Pop Burger.

You want a burger, get it from the clown or don’t get it.

Big business and govt working together.

You mean the same people that told us that Obamacare would save us all money?

Here in NY, the minimum wage was increased by something like $1 / hr.

My Daughter, working part-time to pay for college expenses, immediately had her hours cut by a third.

I keep on seeing polls showing minimum wage raising is popular, but I don't know enough people personally who take that position who I can poll as to why they think its a good idea.

I had one neighbor who hates Dems but was for an employer health care mandate because he agreed with Dems arguments that taxpayers like him are forced to pay for those lower wage workers.

Unaccountable socialists/totalitarians need to hide their plunder of the currency, the devaluation of the fiat paper, from the masses. Enter their accomplices/co-conspirators, the corrupt politicians, as champions of the downtrodden raising their minimum wage.

Root cause? Never addressed.

The root cause of the devaluation of currency by the socialist created FED is never discussed.

$10,10 ? You don’t need 20/20 eyesight to see that “Socialism Is Legal Plunder”. The minimum wage has to keep up with the plunder, otherwise the low-information voters may get restless.

FED up?

Legal Plunder Has Many Names

Now, legal plunder can be committed in an infinite number of ways. Thus we have an infinite number of plans for organizing it: tariffs, protection, benefits, subsidies, encouragements, progressive taxation, public schools, guaranteed jobs, guaranteed profits, MINIMUM WAGES, a right to relief, a right to the tools of labor, free credit, and so on, and so on. All these plans as a whole — with their common aim of legal plunder — constitute socialism. - Bastiat
