The reason that the Ukrainian government won't take the gloves off is because they know that US/NATO will use it as excuse to do the same thing they did to Libya, Syria, and Serbia.

So even though their language policies are equivalent (if applied the same in this country) of not allowing someone’s driver's license to read “Maria” or “Jorge”.
