Even if union goons did it, the deliberate disruption of public services is still called terrorism. (Ergo Enron was a terrorist outfit.)

Agreed - this was an attack on our infrastructure. In either case it was done by parties swearing allegiance to an evil god (either a crazed islamic god, or a god of greed).

But I dont beleive a Mini-30 can shoot 100+ rounds in that time frame without jamming . . .
It was the evil assault AK !

About the only thing you’d have to worry about with a Mini30 is fail to fires if you’re using steel case ammo...unless you’ve had it modified with a stronger hammer spring and a hardened firing pin.

Could have been an AK using 6, 20 round mags, 4, 30 round mags, or an SKS with 12 stripper clips.

Probably not stripper clips. That would have resulted in fingerprints on at least one cartridge in each clip. More likely the magazines were loaded with cartridges that had been wiped clean, or handled only with gloves when taken out of the box.

Use of a Mini-30, if proven, might be a ruse to mislead people. The obvious first thought when 7.62x39 cases are found is to think AK-47 or SKS, suggesting Muslim or drug cartel operatives.

The anomalous part of the attack is the timing. It was done at night, in the middle of April. The best possible time to allow for minimum disruption of power and repairs before peak power usages. If it were meant to hurt the country, it should have been in July.

They might have tossed a couple of emergency flares into the substation to set the coolant on fire, likely making the transformers non-repairable.

Also, only one power substation was hit. If they had hit two or more simultaneously in July, very likely the whole of Southern California would have been out of power for a month.

I’m pretty sure a proper forensics team with a pile of spent brass/steel could determine whether an AK, Mini 30, or SKS was used based on extractor marks and such.

I drove by this station just hour ago and from a glace there appears to be no new security measures.

Hugely surprised.

... about one hundred of these power substations around the country that are really critical to the grid. They need to be protected...

Being a conservative American - and knowing rogue monsters in the FBI and Southern Poverty Law Center would love nothing more than to use something like this as an excuse to round up conservatives and put them in camps...

MAY I suggest we put up lights and cameras around these substations to make sure it's not an inside job like Fast and Furious - a government attempt to destroy the credibility of conservative Americans.

Could liberal elites do something like this? Would they ever fake a 'hate crime'. They have a long track record of this type of thing - and buying bullets to get ready for a fight that WE DON'T want. A fight we refuse to take part in - in spite of their shills on the web egging us on... Yes, they would do this to start the conflict they say they're against. We need to be very careful.

Surround substations with lights, cameras, fences etc. Insist it be done quickly. This could be 'Fast and Furious' on a whole new level if we're not careful.

And yeah, if the US can afford a $12,000 dress for our First Lady, we can afford cameras at substations.

I know somehting of this...in some detail.

This was not a criminal mischief or vandalism act.

This was a very highly planned and executerd test of our infrastructure and our response to it.

They carefully took out 17 transformers, and they did it methodically using 7.62 x 39mm bullets. When complete, they left the area...apparently timing the attack to avoid response by authorities.

IMHO, it is apparent they wanted to see if they could cause an outage, and then see to what extent the outage would impact the area.

I suspect they also had one or more of their number in an “overwatch,” position, during and after the attack to warn of faster than expected response, and to then see how long it actually took.

With the grid being what it is, operators, who themselves are located at a completely different location and who cover a large area, were able to reroute the load, and to generate additional load as necessary tpo avoid an outage.

But now these attackers know this. When they try again, it will be at another place, far removed, where they will up the ante.

We are being wacthed...recon’ed, “scoped out,” by enemies who want to hurt our infrastructure, and through it hurt us and our country.

This site is a sitting duck.. Always has been.
***And this was very likely, no terrorist “attack”. It was a bunch of rednecks firing their guns out in the woods at some target they probably knew nothing about.
