Warning billionaire former mayor and gun control advocate Michael Bloomberg is "not going away," the National Rifle Association is hoping to fire up members to help elect a GOP-controlled Senate.

“We fully expect to win a pro-gun Senate in this cycle,” NRA president Jim Porter told the Washington Examiner in an interview published Monday.“It is vital certainly to our issues, but it is vital to the well-being of this country."

Porter's remarks came at the start of the NRA's "Great AmericanOutdoor Show."

Former NRA head David Keene told the newspaper the group will be spreading the word to supporters about the importance of the election — and that those supporters “know what the opposition is, they know how close it is in the Senate, they know that the Supreme Court could be at stake in the next few years.”

NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam also told the newspaper the group's efforts with supporters is aimed to counter Bloomberg's expected gun control lobbying....

The Obama administration has proven the very reason that a 2nd amendment was written. Far more people are pro-gun in the U.S. than not. Bloomberg and his kinds only want us disarmed to remove any obstacles for imposing their NWO progressive agenda and tyrranyical reign over the peasants

“how many dang democrats are they going to get elected?”

Then I won’t tell you about Harry Reid being sponsored by the NRA for the past 10 years...

It is a pro civil rights movement not a pro gun movement.

Yet their bestest buddy from 2010, Hemorrhoid Reid, will still be in office thanks to the NRA, and they insist on supporting that worthless POS Bitch McConnell. Screw you, NRA. You've gotten your last buck from me.

This needs to be screamed from the rooftops to the halls of Congress to every Governor’s office and in State Legislatures.

I wish them luck. I couldn’t care less which faction of the uniparty wins, but I do care about the 2A.

So do the local Indians in Alaska. This last year, they had a tough time buying ammo when the caribou were migrating across the road & river in front of their house. Most use old military rifles, so I end up reloading a bunch of 308 and pass them out and they get fresh meat. Last couple elections more and more of them fill out their absentee ballots for Repubs and I witness them. No joke, now they even believe the Dems want their guns.

If it really was a uniprty, where are the laws giving for amnesty, card check and global warming?

Keene added the NRA has made a difference in close elections, and it's preparing an education campaign to reach as many as 50 million supporters, the newspaper said.

I'm an NRA member, and most of what they do is good, and vitally important.

That said, they seemed to be generally okay w Harry Reid in his most recent Senate election.

(Hopefully, they have gained the will to speak truth to power the time since.)

Lifetime NRA member for 32 years. Yes, I know how the NRA supports some Demonrat Congress critters. It grates, but they still are still the big boy on the block, for now. Don’t know the timing of Harvey Weinstein/Meryl Streep’s anti-NRA movie, but it doesn’t sound like it will be out in time for the mid-terms. Still, with x-mayor Doomberg still throwing $$$ around the country to incite anti-2A animus, the NRA has its work cut out for them.

The last thing we want is for the pro-second amendment position to be strictly a republican position. I want as many Democrats as possible engaged in the fight to preserve the second amendment. This is not and must not become a partisan issue. The NRA also recognizes this and that realization paid off big time when Harry Reid killed Obama's Gun Control Agenda.

I am proud to be a lifetime member of the NRA.

the National Rifle Association is hoping to fire up members to help elect a GOP-controlled Senate.

Given the actions of the Republicans at the federal-level, is this a wise idea?
It's one of the reasons I'm suspicious of the NRA's motives, the other is their seeming reluctance to push for repeal of existing gun-laws (NFA, GCA, state-laws, etc).

IN THE GRIM DARKNESS OF THE FAR FUTURE THERE IS ONLY GOVERNMENT.

There seems to be a decent push for amnesty from the Republican side... the only one that pops immediately to mind as opposing it is Ted Cruz.
(I might be able to think of more, but that I can't is an indicator of how many are vocally against amnesty.)

U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL). But you are right, they are precious and few.

In retrospect, we have the benefit of judging actions by their outcomes. Looking at the outcomes of the NRA’s actions, I find it difficult to fault them for their actions. We are winning this battle and they are leading the way. Look at the data and tell me we aren’t winning. Show me anyone else that has successfully stood up and fought this administration- anyone else. Nobody else has, yet we not only held the line, we took ground and we continue to take it one inch at a time. Of course we want to take more and we want it now but that’s not the way this war will be won. But make no mistake, we are prepping our battlefield for the big win. Victory will be ours because we have the truth, the constitution, and millions of passionate supporters on our side.
