Obama's Army Only 85% Ready To Fight
Investor's Business Daily ^ | February 3, 2014 | IBD EDITORIALS

Defense: Budget cuts, sequestration and indifference to maintaining what was once "the arsenal of democracy" have led to units that are not deployment-ready and soldiers with weapons their grandfathers could have used.

The standing ovation given at the State of the Union to Sgt. 1st Class Cory Remsburg, seriously wounded in an Afghan war that his commander in chief did not believe was winnable, was well deserved.

It also served as a tribute to all the heroes we send into battle, particularly under rules of engagement that often make the proverbial "one hand tied behind your back" a preferable option.

The Iraq and Afghan wars have taken a toll not only in the human terms of our wounded warriors but also on the weapons and training they need to fight. Compounded by a president hostile to military preparedness and unwilling to make the necessary commitment to it, we have a military tired, worn out and unprepared.

Gen. Bob Scales, a retired U.S. Army major general and former commandant of the U.S. Army War College who is now a military analyst for Fox News, told Greta Van Susteren the day after the State of the Union of the sad state of U.S. military preparedness and expressed a fear it would lead to more Cory Remsburgs.

The 85% also is a good number reflecting the military attitude that the Dork-in-Chief is slime.

But they are professional (look it up, MSM and congresscritters).

They will continue to salute and obey.

For a while.

That’s a suprisingly high number considering all the pregnent females, Affirmative Action promotions, gays swapping HIV viruses, money being wasted on “green” foolishness and other leftist idiocy.

It sounds like we are back to where we were when I joined back in 1975. Nothing but a somewhat hollow force.

How many times do we have to tell the stupid media, “IT IS NOT OBAMAS ARMY, IT IS OUR ARMY”. He only gets to USE our army as he so pleases WHILE he is in office. Once he is GONE (the sooner the better) that “army” stays with the American people. The only thing odumbo has done to OUR ARMY is to have pulled some of their teeth by defunding, eliminating leadership, introducing gays and the list goes on and on. DAMN HIM!

“leftist idiocy” Speak of the PC devil.

In the process of doing a CAF “Resiliency Training Day” today. This morning during the Commander’s call, I heard a captain saying the word partner before spouse and it caught my attention. Even in gay “marriages” shouldn’t the other person still be the spouse? He also used husband, wife, and significant other in the same sentence. Isn’t a husband a husband, and a wife a wife, even if it’s a gay couple in a marriage?

One more year and I’m out.

So many of the troops are absolute tops. It is just heartbreaking when one considers the situation with cowardly/politically correct generals and higher ups. January, 2014 mortar use in Afghanistan via 71st Cav photo 71stCavPaktiaProvAfghanistanJan2014_zps83497596.jpg

It is sad to see our great military being converted by Obama and other politicians into another leftist/progressive social agency.

This change began in the Clinton era but Obama has brought it to a level the Clintons only dreamed of.

And all the while congress either just stood by or was comlicit in other ways.

‘So many of the troops are absolute tops. It is just heartbreaking when one considers the situation with cowardly/politically correct generals and higher ups.’

I worked for the Army for decades. One thing that stood out, the quality of the personnel and especially the career NCO’s was much improved over those I encountered while on active duty during the Viet Nam era. The AVF after some very rocky early years really did produce the opposite of what critics and pundits predicted, a large, high quality volunteer military establishment. Unfortunately the endless and seemingly purposeless nature of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan has created a fatigued and nearly exhausted Army and tired USMC. Also, while most soldiers are professional and outstanding, there are too many disturbing characters in uniform. This is another effect of apparently interminable combat missions. The Army in particular has often had to accept what was available in enlistees. The last time I was at Ft Bragg and Ft. Hood before I retired in 2007 it seemed to me every fifth soldier or so was an individual I would have found uneasy to be alone with on a street. This is not disrespect to the armed forces , but a reflection on what the consequences of the game playing, pecuniary interests and incoherent thinking those who call themselves our national leadership have inflicted on the ground combat forces.

Last sentence of the article:I fear that before he's done, many of our fellow Americans will die right here at home in a major, major terrorist event. And nobama will claim, of course, that he wasn't warned about it ahead of time. Bastard.

The Iraq and Afghan wars have taken a toll not only in the human terms of our wounded warriors but also on the weapons and training they need to fight.

That, right there is unadulterated BS. The military has gotten everything they wanted, and many things they don't want, over the past 10 years. The military has spent funds like drunken children with their parents credit card.

Gen. Bob Scales, a retired U.S. Army major general and former commandant of the U.S. Army War College who is now a military analyst for Fox News~ Another G.O. looking for his 15 minutes of fame in civilian life.

I also need to ask: If the Army has been in combat for the past 13 years, how is it that 85% of it's brigades are not combat ready? This guy is a dipwad.
