New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's re-election campaign and the state's Republican Party committee have received subpoenas from federal prosecutors investigating allegations that his aides created traffic jams as political payback.
Mark Sheridan, a lawyer representing Christie for Governor and the Republican State Committee, tells The Associated Press the subpoenas are for documents related to the closure of traffic lanes near the George Washington Bridge.
A state legislative committee investigating the traffic jams has also issued subpoenas to the two organizations.
Sheridan says the Republican governor's campaign and the party will cooperate with investigators.
The traffic lane closures created gridlock in the town of Fort Lee in September. Documents gathered by legislators suggest the lanes were closed as political payback, possibly because Fort Lee's mayor declined to endorse Christie.

I grudgingly admire the Dems for playing to win. Pubbies on the other hand are just happy to be spectators in the stands with a seat close enough to watch the game.
Ignore over a hundred years of bankruptcy and other Federal law to shaft the owners of GM so the company can be handed over to the UAW as a payoff, no problem.
A Republican may have used off the shelf democrat tactics, it's Watergate again!!
They know he’s going down, and they don’t want to be swept up in the formidable wake....
If you listen to the liberal politicans and pundits, they attack the Tea Party every chance they get. Unlike the hapless Pubbies, they know the Tea Party has core beliefs and conviction. They fear people like that.
The Dems rolled out their “Astro turf” campaign to blunt the effectiveness of the Tea Party and used the IRS to intimidate Tea Party groups. Why would they go to such great lengths like this if they didn’t fear the influence of the Tea Party?
FOX is dusting off Romney again and polishing up Jeb, son of Bush I
The media will ‘blackout’ him just like they did Palin, West, etc, but Ted Cruz needs to step up.. Call the evil rats out on this political hit while Benghazi, IRS, NSA, F&F, Solyndra, and the multitude of other scandals get whitewashed.
No way Christie goes to jail, they could not fit him through the door to a cell.
Theyre four moves ahead of the GOPe. They were already on this by the time Christie was all giddy to appear on SNL.
Agreed, but thanks to the press he is damaged goods for the GOP primary and if there is a strong conservative candidate they will use this scandal against him.
Not necessarily. According to Alinsky’s Rule for Radicals, rather than fear as their motivator, it is sheer bully tactics trying to shut people down so they don’t have to explain their actions.
I believe it is more of a technique than a fear reflex. The Tea Party folks need to stand strong that’s for certain and fight back with as devastating tactics as the left.
Tea Party. McDonnell. Christie.
Is it a purge?
“Have you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Republican party?”
The other day Law & Order went after Christie...
The Republicans would not have a majority in congress without the efforts of the Tea Party in 2010. That fact is not lost on Democrats.
I’ve worked around tons of liberals for years and I can assure you that they are afraid of a repeat of what the Tea Party accomplished in 2010. And they haven’t forgotten the huge 912 rally in DC sent shockwaves through them. This was one of the biggest events ever in DC and another one may be coming this spring.
In most states, “mob rule” is just an expression.
Thanks massmike.
So that’s what this is REALLY about? Going after the GOP and its donors? Where is the justice any more?
Christie Fails the 2nd Amendment Litmus test for me.
Here’s the weird part - one small part of me says “Hey! They’re ripping OUR guy to shreds!”
The other larger part says “He’s a RINO who likes to play ball with Dems, and would be just as bad or worse.”
So at this point... I don’t care what they do to him.
