Do you remember when People's Daily, a Chinese Communist Party newspaper, mistakenly believed that a satirical Onion article naming Kim Jong Un the Sexiest Man Alive in 2012 was real and published a 55 page slideshow about it? How we laughed.
Now the shoe may be on the other foot.
Last week, multiple news sources, including NBC News, Fox News, and, yes, Business Insider, picked up a story in the Singaporean newspaper Strait Times that said North Korean leader Kim Jong-un had his uncle Jang Song-taek executed by feeding him to 120 ravenous dogs.
Very quickly, some people began to realize that there was something a little off about this story. For one thing, the Strait Times sourced their news to a Dec. 12 article in Wen Wei Po, a Hong Kong-based newspaper supportive of the Chinese government. In studies of the different credibility ratings of Hong Kong newspapers, Wen Wei Po consistently ranks near the bottom. No official in Seoul has come out to lend credence to the report, according to The New York Times' Lede Blog.
Reports of North Korean excesses are always worth being extra-skeptical of — there are few Western reporters in the country and most of the rumors that filter out come through South Korean intelligence sources, who very much have their own axe to grind. This story proves even less trustworthy than most, however.

I thought it was fishy when I heard that there were live dogs in Korea................
he was actually eaten by 120 starving North Koreans
North Korea has become so bizarre that such an outlandish report is quite believable.
How do you say “You’ve been punked!” in Mandarin?
Maybe they played 24 hours of Yoko Ono and he just skinned himself alive rather than live any longer.
Yeah, now that I look back on it, that should have been a clue...
Problem is, nothing is too barbaric for the Kims...
I could believe a dog or two, but 120?.......Hell that’s a banquet!...............
120 Dogs would feed an entire Arirang Festival!
For what it's worth...

LOL!!! Dogs or Ono...thats a tough call
With any luck Kim Yung Dung will feed Rodman to the dogs too.
This may be the first time that dogs have eaten a North Korean instead of a North Korean eating a dog.
I can just picture Kim sitting around with sycophants laughing about how Koreans like to eat dogs because they're starving, when he suddenly perks up and says, "why don't I feed my uncle to the dogs rather than letting him eat dogs!"
Someone had to throw this one out there.....
It may also gave started with him throwing his uncle in a cage with a bunch of starving dogsp
I see no basis to NOT believe the story weeks later. Speaking of agenda’s I am also skeptical of those trying to trash the story and clear NK. I don’t know if it happened or not but why all of sudden are people coming out of the woodwork to discredit the story?
Hen hao!
I think the Chinese government has an interest in preserving the image of their “ally,” and hence this campaign to discredit the dog-eating story.
Suppose for a moment that Kim had in fact fed his uncle to the dogs. If Kim eats one of the dogs afterwards, does that make him a cannibal?
Bad visual. I have owned dogs for years.....but kind of funny. I can picture that creep eating all sorts of garbage. I can even imaging him allowing the dogs to be killed and fed to the hungry so he could then ponder whether he turned his hungry masses into cannibals. He’s a sicko and I put nothing past him.
