It's an assertion that has been accepted as fact by droves of the unemployed: Older people remaining on the job later in life are stealing jobs from young people. One problem, many economists say: It isn't supported by a wisp of fact.

I remember how for years people were told be a teacher, there is a great need. And lo, many answered the call and got their degrees and credentials, only to find incredible competition for few jobs because... the older teachers were not retiring. And really, what are older people to do when they can't afford to stop working?

Welcome to the effects of Obamanomics! The young who have not developed those skills required to succeed in the work force will very likely be edged out of the work force by those older workers who do have the skills who are realizing that Obamanomics has so destroyed the economy that the older workers cannot retire when they had planned to retire.

"Stealing"? Really? That's a heck of a spin job.

So that's the mindset libs want people to have, in preparation to push euthanasia for "older" people.

The biggest problem with a lot of the younger workers is the lack of any kind of work ethic. They are, after all, ENTITLED to a high salary with full benefits. Uncle bammy told them so. Employers don’t need that kind of BS.

Since I will probably have to work for the duration, I look at social security as a tax cut. It isn’t really a benefit per say, it’s just I will have my taxes offset by “income” from uncle sugar. We could forgo the paper and just let everyone off the hook for Federal taxes when they reach 62.5.

How about illegal immigrants in professional jobs squeezing young grads out. H-1B did more damage to high tech grads then older workers. Thirty years ago high tech companies would hire college grads and try them out for 2-3 years. They were looking for grads from good schools, good GPA and overall good appearance/performance at interview. They were looking for potential. Today they hold up a H-1B guy name Wang from China who has five years of work experience and tells US college grads can you compete in the following - work experience; lower pay; indentured to company for 7 years; afraid of pissing off management; no need for health insurance per Obamacare laws. Since you cannot, goodbye, come back when you can.

“It isn’t supported by a wisp of fact.”

It seems to me if an older worker is laid off, he might as well be six feet under ‘cause his outlook for a new job is pretty stark. Of course, that’s just my personal experience.

Not if Charles Krauthammer gets his way with a higher “minimum wage” for older workers...

Circular logic. Nobody is hiring young people because the older people are holding onto their jobs. Nobody is hiring old people because employers are afraid they’ll get sick and drive up health care costs.

The jobs aren’t there because we have an anti-business president and his party. But that would be racism to say that.

Draw attention away from the failures and horrors of Obamacare.

Keep Americans envious and suspicious of each other.

Stir up resentment of neighbors, friends and relatives.

Divide us into groups and keep those groups pitted against one another.

That’s the Obama Land way.

In the microeconomic view of things, Pelosi remaining in her job at the age with an IQ of 73 does deny others her district's seat in Congress or a chance to ascend to the leadership.

Fixed it.

Misleading The problem isn’t old people working. The problem is the wholesale destruction of millions of jobs these last four years so that old and young alike are being hurt.

Got to be kidding.

While some older workers may remain on the job, no company is hiring an older worker from the outside unless filling an affirmative action goal.
