The Obama administration on Friday proposed two new executive actions to make it easier for states to provide mental health information to the national background check system, wading back into the gun control debate after a months-long hiatus.
One proposal would formally give permission to states to submit "the limited information necessary to help keep guns out of potentially dangerous hands," without having to worry about the privacy provisions in a law known as HIPAA.

On one hand, you Freepers don't need to worry because the new rule will not legally prohibit a person seeking help for mental health problems, or getting treatment, or having general mental health visits, or routine mental health care from having a firearm.
On the other hand, you do need to worry because the government considers you guys a bunch of right wing nuts!

Anyone who thinks they need a firearm are obviously suffering from a mental health crisis. You can trust the federal government to make the correcy decisions for you. By the way, ain’t it great that ALL medical records are now kept electronically in a federal database?
HIPPA is supposed to protect patient privacy.
Who is it more important to protect that privacy from? Would it be a single individual, or would it be the federal government?
You tell me.
In a society with major pressure on it already, the federal government does it’s damnedest to add more all the time.
Send Congress home for ten months per year. I’ll wager you better than even money, that there would be less mass murders.
Maybe Obama needs to do an executive order against SOCIALISTS in his own party who have guns..the recent Colorado school shooter was a proud socialist, something the media doesn’t want to talk about..Hey Obama, you want our guns, how about you disarm your secret service first how about that
1.) Go in to the doc for mild depression.
2.) Get entered into some database.
3.) Get denied on your background check and not told why.
4.) Loss of rights, no due process, no recourse.
Am I missing anything?
Ah yes, and pray tell, what due process will one be afforded before being put on the denial list because of a mental health referral?
I can see from practice that it is MOST effective to protect privacy from a parent, or a child taking care of an elderly parent. From the Feral Gov? Well, not so much.
Let me know how that parent or child has the ability to cut off your civil rights and perhaps I’ll join you.

The Legislature passed the statute(s) known as HIPPA.
Now, O proposes an EA that will modify portions of that legislature.
1. Since when does a President need to propose an EA or require approval of its content?
The use of the word “proposes” seems nothing more than an attempt to obtain cover from other politicians for something O intends in any event to do. Perhaps even after he broadens the content and takes it to the limit following general approval from his sycophants.
2. Unilaterally modifying the statute after the fact, thereby usurping the Legislature, seems a lot like a line item veto which, of course, the USSC has ruled impermissible.
And the long march goes on.

What the h@ll is an executive action? Don’t recall that listed anywhere in the constitution. Perhaps it is just a dictatorial action by a narsisstic foreign national who lied his way into political power. Yes, foreign nationals are far more comfortable with tyranny then say a natural born American Citizen.
