An unfolding corruption scandal in Turkey has uncovered transactions that may have allowed Tehran to circumvent harsh U.S. and E.U. sanctionsa revelation that could destabilize Obamas nuclear deal and threaten the government of Prime Minister Erdogan.
A massive unfolding corruption scandal in Turkeywhich has already forced the resignations of three government ministers and threatens to upend the Islamist government of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is fast acquiring an international dimension amid accusations that Iran is enmeshed in Ankaras political crisis.
What started out as a domestic scandal involving shady real estate deals and allegations of bribery and kickbacks among the Erdogan government and its business allies is now expanding, with major international ramifications. Among the potential repercussions, analysts say: a potential destabilization in the delicate negotiations underway between the West and Iran over Tehrans nuclear program.
The first hint of the Iranian angle in the corruption probes launched by Turkish police in the face of government obstruction came before Christmas when a complicated oil-for-gold deal between Turkey and Iran was unmasked. The investigators didnt set out to uncover the sanction-busting oil deal but say they were led to it by following a trail of cash bribes.
An Iranian businessman and gold dealer, Reza Sarraf (also known as Reza Zarrab), whom police have accused of bribing the Economic Minister while organizing transactions from Iran worth $120 billion, was arrested last week. So, too, the CEO of the state-owned Turkish financial institution Halkbank, who was reportedly found to have more than $4 million of cash stuffed in shoe-boxes in his home.
According to Turkish investigators, both men were at the center of a complex deal in which Iran sold oil and natural gas to Turkey for cash payments that were deposited in an account held at Halkbank.

We let this happen to appease Iran and get them to come to the table and negotiate. It was a loophole in the sanctions that could have been shut earlier.
Get Iran’s oil flowing around the sanctions or get $120/barrel and choke off recovery. Choose.
Turkey has been run by Islamists for more than a decade now. They are no friend of the West.
Surely Turkey is only one of many nations that have worked with Iran in to break the sanctions regime.
The Obama deal with Iran will last as long as the Israelis allow it to.
Netanyahu has put Israel and the rest of the West in great danger by waiting so long - he’d better wake up soon!
Don’t forget we owe Erdogan a “big one.” He’s the jerkopf that wouldn’t let Bush 43 use his railroad to get our equipment to Northern Iraq to help us go after Saddam. In spite of Turkey being NATO. He’d just been elected and was already flexing his muzzie krap. And he whined and bitched about the Israelis intercepting his Gaza flotsam. The guy has always been bent on escaping back to the 12th century. Most of the folks in Turkey are trying to break away from that old Ottoman nonsense and this smells like he’s going to get what he’s got coming.
But when it came time for the Turkish legislature to support Erdogan or the U.S. and either approve or deny previously granted permission, it was the French who bribed the legislature to support Erdogan and deny the U.S. permission.

Must have forgotten their payoffs to the Obama cadre.
Iranians are not dumb, they want their cash and if you have been syphoning off said cash for yourself, you can be guaranteed this lot will hang you for it.....This guy must be nuts if he thinks he can get away with phony documents and the like.
You don’t rip the iranians off and live.....now was Erdogans govt in on the swindle, if they were god help them.
What? So obama is going to investigate himself? Makes you understand the “secret” negotiations with Iran now!
(Netanyahu has put Israel and the rest of the West in great danger by waiting so long - hed better wake up soon!)
Backwards and upside down and could not be more wrong, it is Obama and the democrat communist fools of America who have hogtied America and Israel into being stupid as a bag of rocks by electing the monster and his evil regime. Israel is being forced into a position that will result in war for all the nations of the earth against the God of Israel and His Christ, whom God the Father will make king of the earth after the wars caused by pagans and atheists who mock God and Christ Jesus, as the Scriptures plainly teach all who believe on Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior.
