Turkey And Iran Accused Of Oil-For-Cash Sanctions Scheme

An unfolding corruption scandal in Turkey has uncovered transactions that may have allowed Tehran to circumvent harsh U.S. and E.U. sanctions—a revelation that could destabilize Obama’s nuclear deal and threaten the government of Prime Minister Erdogan.

A massive unfolding corruption scandal in Turkey—which has already forced the resignations of three government ministers and threatens to upend the Islamist government of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan— is fast acquiring an international dimension amid accusations that Iran is enmeshed in Ankara’s political crisis.

What started out as a domestic scandal involving shady real estate deals and allegations of bribery and kickbacks among the Erdogan government and its business allies is now expanding, with major international ramifications. Among the potential repercussions, analysts say: a potential destabilization in the delicate negotiations underway between the West and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program.

The first hint of the Iranian angle in the corruption probes launched by Turkish police in the face of government obstruction came before Christmas when a complicated oil-for-gold deal between Turkey and Iran was unmasked. The investigators didn’t set out to uncover the sanction-busting oil deal but say they were led to it by following a trail of cash bribes.

An Iranian businessman and gold dealer, Reza Sarraf (also known as Reza Zarrab), whom police have accused of bribing the Economic Minister while organizing transactions from Iran worth $120 billion, was arrested last week. So, too, the CEO of the state-owned Turkish financial institution Halkbank, who was reportedly found to have more than $4 million of cash stuffed in shoe-boxes in his home.

According to Turkish investigators, both men were at the center of a complex deal in which Iran sold oil and natural gas to Turkey for cash payments that were deposited in an account held at Halkbank.

We should be filing int'l criminal indictments for this on Turkey and dropping any negotiations with Iran. Erdogan needs hauling in for this and for letting the AQ operatives corruption buddies he's been dealing with get away by warning them the cops were coming. Why is this not being covered properly.

We let this happen to appease Iran and get them to come to the table and negotiate. It was a loophole in the sanctions that could have been shut earlier.

Get Iran’s oil flowing around the sanctions or get $120/barrel and choke off recovery. Choose.

Turkey has been run by Islamists for more than a decade now. They are no friend of the West.

Surely Turkey is only one of many nations that have worked with Iran in to break the sanctions regime.

The Obama deal with Iran will last as long as the Israelis allow it to.

Netanyahu has put Israel and the rest of the West in great danger by waiting so long - he’d better wake up soon!

Don’t forget we owe Erdogan a “big one.” He’s the jerkopf that wouldn’t let Bush 43 use his railroad to get our equipment to Northern Iraq to help us go after Saddam. In spite of Turkey being NATO. He’d just been elected and was already flexing his muzzie krap. And he whined and bitched about the Israelis intercepting his Gaza flotsam. The guy has always been bent on escaping back to the 12th century. Most of the folks in Turkey are trying to break away from that old Ottoman nonsense and this smells like he’s going to get what he’s got coming.

In spite of Turkey being NATO. [Erdogan had] just been elected and was already flexing his muzzie krap.

But when it came time for the Turkish legislature to support Erdogan or the U.S. and either approve or deny previously granted permission, it was the French who bribed the legislature to support Erdogan and deny the U.S. permission.

The mega-corrupt Jacques Chirac covering for his buddy, Saddam.

Considering Obama’s peculiar dealings with Iran, from his failure to exploit the 2009-10 election riots to his sham nuclear weapons negotiations, I believe Obama received laundered campaign cash from Iran as well promises of a future payoff after he's out of the spotlight.

And, that, Iranian and Turkish readers, is what's known as the underside of the Obamabus.

This has been an interesting bunch of moves by Zero and his puppet masters.
  1. The Obama regime partnered in the overthrow of the Mubarak gov't in Egypt, and in the eventual installation of the Muslim Brotherhood there.
  2. The Syrian cabinet resigned.
  3. Qatar bankrolled the MB in Egypt; Turkey's Erdogan voiced wholehearted support for the shortlived new Egyptian order.
  4. Assad, with the encouragement and material support of Iran and Russia, launched a bloody crackdown on unarmed Syrian protestors, creating chaos and an opening for the eventual Islamofascist co-option of what began as a peaceful and secular opposition to the Assad regime.
  5. Assad (with help from Putin's buttboys and Iranian agitprop) attributed the domestic and internal calls for reform to foreign intrigues and "terrorists", as he continued the slaughter of (to date) over 100,000 Syrians and the flight of fully ten percent of the population of the country.
  6. Turkey's Erdogan objected to the initial bloody actions of Assad, was snubbed, and began to host refugees, including the original core of the FSA.
  7. Iranian thugs and Iran's Hizbollah proxies entered Syria as the Syrian army fragmented and Assad's political authority declined to whatever was in range of the guns of his enclave.
  8. In Egypt, Morsi nearly immediately reached out to Iran.
  9. Morsi and his fellow criminals colluded with Iran regarding the murders of US diplomats in Benghazi.
  10. The liars of the Obama regime attributed the premeditated murders to reaction to an obscure YouTube video no one else ever seems to have heard of.
  11. The Qatari emir was deposed by his own son, who immediately cut off aid to the Egyptian MB regime and pulled the plug on the faction the father had bankrolled in Syria. Qatar is still aligned with Iran to the extent necessary to keep the Saudis off their backs.
  12. Fifteen million Egyptians started a flashmob uprising against the illegal MB regime.
  13. The Egyptian armed forces arrested Morsi and a number of his co-conspirators and acted with force against the subsequent and predictable violent MB supporters' response.
  14. Assad clucked approval over the removal of the MB, while his Iranian ally condemned it. The Saudis started bankrolling the new gov't.
  15. Erdogan's engineering of the downfall of Turkey is an unintended consequence of his own stupidity; his attempt to create a common market of the Middle East to include Syria, Iran, Jordan, others (but not Iraq) can be said to be moot; his destruction of Turkish alliances with both Israel and NATO has been breathtaking; he's literally surrounded Turkey by enemies and is likely to be overthrown by his own party, possibly within days; he colluded with the Obama regime to screw over Israel at least twice in the past couple of years.
  16. Zero has now quite obviously switched US support to Iran.
  17. Zero plans to help usher in an Islamofascist dictatorship in Turkey unlike anything Erdogan has ever dreamed of.
  18. Turkey is part of NATO, and is a associate member of the EU (Turkey's been led around with the prospect of membership by the EU and its predecessor the Common Market or EEC since 1960), and is a Trojan Horse (figuratively; historically a reverse of geography) for the complete Islamicization of Europe.

(Netanyahu has put Israel and the rest of the West in great danger by waiting so long - he’d better wake up soon!)

Backwards and upside down and could not be more wrong, it is Obama and the democrat communist fools of America who have hogtied America and Israel into being stupid as a bag of rocks by electing the monster and his evil regime. Israel is being forced into a position that will result in war for all the nations of the earth against the God of Israel and His Christ, whom God the Father will make king of the earth after the wars caused by pagans and atheists who mock God and Christ Jesus, as the Scriptures plainly teach all who believe on Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior.
