This is another example of government intrusion into local culture and a denial of rights based on environmental activism and extremism. Worse, it's going to cost some lives because the air boaters routinely rescue people lost or involved in accidents. It will reduce the amount of education kids get on the region provided by both schools and parents or friends. Airboats are among the least intrusive vehicles that can penetrate deep into the swamp. Yes, they're loud but so is the thunder that rolls across the region often and so are the aircraft that fly over the region. I grew up out there on airboats. I learned to drive one out there. I feel like a small piece of my soul is being eradicated.

It is, that small part called freedom.

Some of the Park Service rangers that try to enforce this will wind up as gator chow.

Well there goes my planned Gentle Ben reboot movie.

Maybe I can sell the idea to Michael Bay.

Reminds me of the episode of Big Bang, where they had the time machine prop from the original movie. Penny described it as looking like “something Elton John would ride through the everglades”.

Another reason to elect can conservatives into Congress and the White House.

A federal agency, in this case the Parks Service, is MAKING LAW. They can call it a “rule” or a “determination” or a “regulation”, but it is in essence a LAW.

Congress ALONE has the power to make law, according to Article I, Section 1 of the Constitution: “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.”

This is nothing less than the continuation of the long war on whites and heterosexuals. Whatever those two groups like is fair game for a skirmish. After we’ve lost a thousand skirmishes, game over. At least that seems to be the theory. But I’m kind of hoping it’s game on.

One thing I learned by living overseas was that it’s one thing to pass a law or edict, it’s quite another to enforce it or obtain obedience to it.

The Everglades is going to be re-designated by the Fed.gov as: Area 52.

This is one more reason for a Convention of States. This is our only chance to reign in these bureaucrats,to let the Fed Gov know who is supposed to be in charge.

They are not going to regulate themselves. They need to be reminded of their place in Government. The power of the Fed is subservient to the States, They only exist because the 50 States allow them to exist. They are restricted by the Constitution to a very few powers.

There are some people who are afraid of what a COS will do to our Constitution. The answer is a COS can not change one word of the Constitution. They can only propose amendments. It will still take ratification by 3/4 of the 50 states. Only good can come from the Convention.

Of course politicians of both parties are against it, it threatens their power and that, folks is what it is all about for them, power...

Simple... run the boats illegally.

May as well take an M-79 along with you and take out the government gunboats when they close in.

Enough is enough.

Once the leftist federal government figures out a way to eliminate pesky common people but keep our tax money rolling in they will have finally created their liberal utopia.

We common people want to spoil the parks and natural areas by actually using them.
We want to run around free, doing what we like with no government direction or regimentation.
We don’t want to be penned up in city apartments like caged rats in a government laboratory.

The government wants to control us and regiment us like chickens in an egg factory - restricted to government approved areas but still [producing every day.

They don’t want us living like free range chickens, stomping on the grass, going where we like, living free of oppressive government regulations and restrictions.

It’s just too messy a concept for government control freaks to accept.

While I agree with you, the sad fact is the “Gladesmen” worked for and voted into existance, the socialism that is denying them access to the very lands they voted to socialize.

As always, those who lie down with socialists (call them enviro’s, commies, liberals, whatever), always get screwed by those socialists.

These folks were just white, working class “GimmePigs”, fools who believed taking land from the many and giving it to the Government (which is Communism's basic premise, I note) would be good for them.

It wasn't.

Those “Gladesmen” are largely weekend warriors. They are a far cry from the people who once made a living in the Everglades, people like Totch Brown, Raymond Rewis, and their many neighbors who were from families which settled the Glades and lived there until urban commies in government agencies forced them off the land.

Consider them as “Kulaks lite”, just being starved out a bit at a time - or regulated out, one regulation at a time.

In the Pinecrest area, those people were warned, regularly, but did nothing when they could have so done.

I will soon publish a book on this, and having been both a member of Sierra Clubs Florida Executive Committee (FLEXCOM) and having known ParcPersons from the local Armed & Rangerous to the Sec. of Interior’s abuse and the nauseating behavior of Florida's “Possum Police”, you might well find it interesting to read. Alas, the book is full of one Trough Feeder after another, and one NGOPerson after another - all busily and successfully depriving Florida residents of their property, Constitutional Guarantees, and finally even their American heritage.

As you know, far too may teachers in the Miami-Dade Pooblik Skrewl Collective are socialism infected and few have even heard of American Exceptionalism. Indeed, the average Edumacator did little better than their students on a test I administered to them as part of a program I developed for Dade Schools.

The program produced both continuing ed courses for teachers and courses for students. The results showed there is something profoundly amiss in the Pooblik Skrewl Collective’s.

The same failure to teach the core concepts which made the American Republic an exception to the sad history of one tyrant after another, made possible the communizing of the Everglades.

As for the National Park Service, it has long been known inside the Beltway as a refugia for fools, collectivist fools, too. PM me and I will show you a videotape of a friend who was Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on the Interior. His considered comments are far more harsh than what I posted here, and he had both the scientific/professional, and the political knowledge and experience to support his statements.

In closing, I must remind all that the “Gladesmen” were decidedly hostile towards my for reasons clearly defined by a past Everglades National Park Superintendent. That same perspective is what was cleverly used by the Trough Feeders and their allies, to socialize the Everglades with the help of the “Gladesmen.”

I, and my colleagues, tried to sound a warning, but all were blinded by the allure of a socialized Everglades, such as: “Something for nothing”.
“No nasty landowners posting the land.”
“A place for ‘traditional uses’ in perpetuity.”

I doubt anyone will listen now, just as they didn't listen when I told a past Airboat President that they needed to heed their lawyer, Bill Horne. He was as good as a DC lawyer gets.

When I mentioned to him that Fred the Wonderdog was still stupidvisor of BCNP he said, “I was going to fire that stupid “bachelors child (author's word choice, not Horne's) but I left before I got around to it.

A pity, that - because Fred was an hyper eager regulator.

Anyway, I doubt anyone will want to do anything effective, so time to give the keyboard a break.

Happy New Year to you and yours, and may your students not attack you.
