CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS WAIT IN LINE TO DO SOMETHING MANY GUN OWNERS HOPE THEY NEVER HAVE TO
The Blaze ^ | December 26, 2013

Posted on 12/27/2013 8:56:16 AM PST by papertyger

Connecticut residents waited in long lines on Thursday to register their firearms and high-capacity magazines before the state’s new gun laws go into effect on Jan. 1, 2014.

WFSB-TV reports that a “long-line of people” stood outside the Public Safety Building in Middletown, Conn., all day to register semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines. Several residents were upset with the “unconstitutional” requirement, while at least one person didn’t appear to mind.

“I understand why they’re doing it, but I don’t think it’s constitutional,” resident Scott Boccio told WFSB-TV as he was registering his guns.

Charles Gillette, who was registering magazines, told the news station that he would have a problem with it if the state was trying to ban the magazines or firearms, but said “if they want to just know where they are, that’s fine with me.”

However, not one gun owner who was registering firearms or magazines said they think the new laws will reduce gun violence.

“If people are going to do things illegally, they’re not going to be here registering their gun,” Jared Krajewski, another resident registering firearms, said.

For now, in Connecticut, the law is the law. The new gun control measures were put into place following the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

State police Lt. Paul Vance said that gun owners must fill our forms completely and some may require a notary.

Note to Charles “The Sheep” Gillette: If “it’s fine” with you telling the government where your weapons, magazines and ammo are, what will you do when they come to get them? (Although it sounds like you will have already given them up voluntarily before that ever happens.)

Registration will not prevent a killing but it will be useful for confiscation during a martial law event.

Hey, if Adam Lanza’s mom would have been required to register that AR-15, then after the Sandy Hook shooting,, the cops would have known the serial number of the gun he used. Or something,,,,,

Stupid for law enforcement,,, only useful for confiscation.

Sure it will!

But it will save the ones as we say in the South "need killin'."

“I understand why they’re doing it, but I don’t think it’s constitutional,” resident Scott Boccio told WFSB-TV as he was registering his guns.

If you REALLY know the reason, then you wouldn't be registering them because the real reason is to eventually outlaw them and confiscate them.

Exactly. Expect a knock (if your lucky) on the front door in the future.

It also allows them to enter your house without your permission because you have a weapon that the government has deemed illegal.

so are you saying when the confiscation begins we should just steal one anothers guns? Therefore there is no way to figure out where any of the guns are at?

How secure is your registry, CT? What an easy way for a gun accessing criminal to know where to find the guns of his choice.

How secure is your registry, CT?

One FOIA request from a newspaper willing to print all of the gun owners names and addresses will answer that for you.

They won’t have to come by and collect them because anyone willing to register their firearms will turn them in when the government demands it.

And we all know how we are nation of laws, not of men. Plus, "it's settled law," so you can't challenge its Constitutionality.

Every state, including stalwarts like Texas have liberal elements in them, and liberals are like rust.

No good citizen American should line up to satisfy an unconstitutional mandate of a local, state or the federal government. Ignore it and stay home. Passive resistance, when done by many, is a tactic that gums up the government’s nasty plan and inspires other good citizens to join and support the resistance. If they call you in it, say, “I forgot” or “what difference does it make?” Words that have let Hillary skate past misdeeds.

One would hope that would be the case.

But I look at where our country as a whole is, and people thirty years ago, even many who were Democrats, would have been appalled to see where it is today, and that thought doesn’t make me feel cheery about twenty years from now.

Darn it.
