Great article.

Republicans need to offer a free market alternative to Obamacare NOW -- not a patchwork of "fixes" but a whole free market based plan, BEFORE the 2014 elections.

As congress currently is constituted they will pass a bail out for the insurance companies to be followed shortly by a mandate that doctor’s be conscripted for the good of the country and then forced to work where told by the government

Republicans need to offer a free market alternative to Obamacare NOW

In order for a free-market solution to work, Medicare has to be repealed.

"Obamacare" is a severely dysfunctional attempt to escape from the collapse of the budgeting process and the inevitable destruction of the financial system, both caused by Medicare.

This is why Republicans in Congress (most of them) secretly support "Obamacare", and why they will not do anything that has a chance of success to undermine or eliminate it.

As long as Members of Congress are selected by voting, Medicare cannot be repealed. And as long as Medicare in its present form exists, the nation is doomed.

I believe a group of GOP ALREADY have a free market proposal for healthcare....it’s just that the press doesn’t want you to hear about it.

“Republicans need to offer a free market alternative to Obamacare NOW.”

Your comment assumes the gop wing of the uniparty wants to end deathcare. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Of course if they actually solve the problem both parties would lose the ability to demagogue the issue every two years...

The unraveling of the Affordable Care Act presents a historic opportunity for change.

What historic change are they talking about? CommieCare IS change. if it unravels, then nothing changed.

Government provided health plans should be the same for politicians and civilians.

AGREED!! My mother (a Democrat voter, but conservative in spirit), has really been ragging on Obama and Obamacare, and I was really thinking she was starting to see the life, but all of sudden, she starts talking about a single-payer system. I nearly swallowed my tongue. Took all of my energies to keep calm and explain to her how that is a bad thing. It's obvious, this is where the Progs are leading us.

Yet opponents should not sit back and revel in dysfunction.

If the Republicans come up with a good idea the Democrats will, with the help of a slavish press, make the idea their own and run against the Republicans with it. If the Republicans are to come up with an option it should be fully formed, named and soon. Come Spring and leaking of the 2015 insurance rates and employer based policy problems the Red State Democrats will be desperate.

No....they don't.

What they need to do is repeal the POS, return regulation to the states, reinstate the High Risk Pools, reinstate the HSAs, and allow portability and purchasing across state lines...just like other types of insurance.

I was preaching most of this to my dad tonight. I do think that less regulation should be allowed to solve the problems. Let Risk takers evaluate and set prices on the risks and rewards.

Some weeks ago didn't Ted Cruz say he would be releasing an alternative to Obamacare? I would assume that would be a good starting point.
