After police left, the resident found someone in a closet in a barber shop attached to the home. Out of fear for his safety, the resident shot the man once in the arm, police said. The intruder ran away from the home, and officers, hearing the shot, ran to the backyard and took the man into custody.

When are these gun owners going to learn how to shoot? A head shot is not that hard, even a triple tap to the chest is easy. Problem solved.

Any chance the names Floyd and Barney are associated with this story?

A lot of Americans don’t want to shoot to kill.

He got shot for coming out of the closet. The media wished this had happened in West Monroe, LA.

If someone invades my home, which is a threat to my family, I will shoot to kill. Might just be me, but that is my personal philosophy.
As a retired police officer, this piece of crap would be dead and I wouldn’t think twice about it.

Depends on what is exposed ... head, or a lot of body.

“When are these gun owners going to learn how to shoot?”
That’s a problem with no easy solution.
Not exactly the same situation, but similar in that it’s about gun owners not taking the time or effort to become familiar with their weapons.
I came across a story last month of some teenager showing off his handgun to his girlfriend challenging her to shoot it. She was afraid of guns. He dropped the mag, pointed it at her, and pulled the trigger explaining that is was now safe. She did not survive the round that was in the pipe. I think she was 16. I chose not to post that story here. It still lingers and troubles me.

A very familiar story. Sad but familiar. In my career in law enforcement, I have investigated many instances similar to this story.
