A county clerk's office in Utah is issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, just hours after a federal judge struck down Utah's ban on gay marriages.
Salt Lake County Deputy Clerk Dahnelle Burton-Lee says the district attorney authorized her office to begin issuing the marriage licenses Friday.
She couldn't immediately say how many licenses have been issued so far.
U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby ruled that a law passed by voters in 2004 violates gay and lesbian couples' rights to due process and equal protection under the 14th Amendment.
Shelby said the state failed to show that allowing same-sex marriages would affect opposite-sex marriages in any way.
The Utah attorney general's office says it plans to issue a statement on the ruling later.
The decision marks an ongoing nationwide shift toward allowing gay marriage.
true traditional Catholicism hopefully survives...not the mumbo jumbo some of the leftists Catholics like to prescribe too....
which makes it all the more important to elect only pubs...and never to give your vote to the rat by voting libtard or not voting .....
Fundamentalist Christians have never wavered in our opposition to it, not an iota, but I can’t say we’ve been on the front lines, as most fundamentalists don’t see the point, after a certain point (voting, mainly) to get involved politically. The few fundamentalists who have gotten involved politically (Jerry Falwell being the most famous example) have almost always wound up moving into the evangelical camp. Fundamentalists are more about remaining separate from sin, but the battle lines are being drawn now to where we will be forced to make a public stand (not that our stance isn’t already well-known, we just don’t get in the news about it). The clueless media doesn’t know the difference between “evangelical” and “fundamentalist”.
As I recall in the Bible, a few Jews were the first Christians.
Sorry, I was using these two terms interchangeably. Evangelicals are a subset of Fundamentalists, but not necessarily visa versa.
Sorry if it sounded like I was correcting you, I wasn’t :) The media are the ones who don’t know the difference.
Understood.
It does seem insane, if not ironic. We spent ten years fighting Islamo-fascists overseas, only to see the country defeated stateside by homo-fascists. America is being taken over by evil.
Since Jesus founded His holy Church, it will survive.
Let the leftist Catholics and leftist EVERYBODY wallow in their sin, lies and perfidy. All we can do it pray for them.
It will help make polygamy legal.
Utah should be so proud. Now all they need is their cut of the 50 million freeloading foreigners who illegally oozed their way into America under the cover of darkness to take a swing at the BIG piñata.
CA passed a law that health insurance cover infertility must also cover gay couples.
Remember what St. Francis of Assissi said: Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary, use words.
Our best bet is good example. You ought to let people do what they are going to do. God will fix everything; He always does. No use breaking your heart over the perfidy of others. Useless head banging. PRAYER.
God bless you.
What will be left of marriage when these folks are done?
That’s riiiight ... I remember ... Jesus said, “Go ye therefore into all the world baptising in the name of the holy father, the son and the holy catholic church”
If they can’t prevent gay marriage in Utah, it’s legal everywhere, as suspected. The fact is, the left can do anything they want. If they don’t press for every extreme thing they want, it’s their fault they don’t get it.
Even the “first Pope” when asked about matters from distant churches wrote them letters, he said I am not the authority on these matters, look to scripture
Merry Christmas, bro
