Broad Skepticism on Health Care Law
New York Times ^ | December 18, 2013 | Megan Thee-Brenan

With the approach of the new year, when health insurance policies under President Obama’s new health care law are set to begin, there is wide skepticism among both the insured and uninsured about how the law will affect them and the nation as a whole, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll.

The poll found that just one-third of uninsured Americans expect the law, the Affordable Care Act, to improve the nation’s health care system, while the same proportion think the law will help them personally, according to the poll.

Overall, there is no consensus among uninsured Americans on how the health care system will fare once the law takes effect. While one-third expect improvement, two-thirds anticipate either a worsening or no difference at all.

“It will hurt everybody in the long run,” said Cat Ping, 55, of Indianapolis in a follow-up interview. Ms. Ping, who does not have insurance, added: “I don’t care how they spin it, Obamacare is not affordable. It’s wrecking our total economy.”

I just saw what my premiums and deductable are on the Obamacare exchange - both increase about 3 times. And that’s on a modest income. There’s no way I can afford it and still eat regularly.

Unfortunately, there is not enough skepticism towards those who gave us the law (i.e. Democrats) and their supporters (i.e. CBS News and the New York Times).

All part of the big plan. That will be one less person to drain from Social Security.

Slate: Obamacare Is Over (If You Want It) [FR thread]

"Despite reports following the shutdown debacle, Sen. Ted Cruz has only begun to fight Obamacare.

"[SNIP] ......................The Obamacare wars of 2013 already seem quaint. Telling conservatives that a funding bill was “the last chance” to kill the law was great for fundraising. It was true, as Cruz repeatedly said, that subsidies could make the law more popular. But reports of Cruz’s ultimate defeat were written too soon. Last week, to little fanfare, his office released a helpful list of probable constitutional problems with Obamacare. Just in case any lawyers wanted to look into that.

It will limit travel too and the purchase of second homes and visits to Grandpa and Grandma out of state or even out of your county. What a freaking nightmare..

First they came for the private insurance plans but I didn’t have one so I didn’t speak out.
Then they came for the employer plans but I didn’t have one of those so I still didn’t speak out.
Then they came for the military healthplans called Tricare and I stood up to speak out but by that time there was no one left to speak out with me.

The slippery slope continues.

Anyone who is hurt is a victim sacrificed on the altar of political correctness. The whole purpose of this law is to take money from those who earn it, and give it to those ‘oppressed’ people who vote democrat.

They ain’t seen nuttin yet! This is just the lull before the Cat 5 hurricane “Bamakare” hits, because in early 2014, horror stories will start emerging about people with obama-cancelled insurance not being able to continue their chemotherapy, dialysis treatments, trauma patients being denied care at designated trauma centers and hospital emergency departments being swamped with people unable to see their doctor.

This will start happening in January, become a deluge in February, and turn into a tsunami of death by March 2014, at which time voters will start hunting Democrats down in the streets with pitchforks and dogs. And a well-deserved hunt it will be too, because people are going to die as obamacare sends our existing health care system into complete and total chaos.

All the Republicans need to do is twiddle their fingers until the Democrats BEG them to fix obamacare, at which point the Republicans need to carry through on their promises and repeal and replace it. And if the Republicans betray us and don’t do that, it is the end of the Republican Party.

““I’m for universal health care, and this is a steppingstone in the right direction, “ said Don Sears, 58 , of Syracuse, N.Y.”

Don Sears, 58 typical communist New Yorker. Throwback of
a typical king George loyalist. And like most New Yorkers,
intentionally and pathetically ignorant to the core. They
actually go out of their way to be that way. It’s like
when Coke came out with the New Coke. The only place in
America that liked it was New York. Something is wrong
with those people.

“.................Americans already know that ObamaCare means higher premiums and a shrinking roster of doctors. But they have not yet realized that ObamaCare plans are not portable and will impede their ability to travel.

What happens to those plans to send the kids to live with the grandparents for the summer, when little Josh needs to keep up with his allergy shots? What decision will a family make when Dad needs to move to start his new job, while the kids stay behind to finish up the school year? What kind of financial pain will be inflicted on American contract workers, who rent a hotel residence for three months while they complete a project? And who will buy a vacation home when the costs include out-of-pocket medical expenses?

Moreover, ObamaCare may soon start impacting access to emergency room care. With Americans no longer able to receive routine medical services when they travel, will they start showing up in emergency rooms for sore throats and backaches? And how will these new throngs of patients affect the waiting time of people with genuine medical emergencies?

“I have 35 years in the industry, and I’ve never seen anything like this,” the New York insurance broker told me. “ObamaCare is a rolling disaster. Every time we go down the road, we get hit with another catastrophe.”
