New Polling in Kentucky Shows McConnell is Vulnerable

The latest poll from Kentucky, conducted by Public Policy Polling, completely countermands the conventional wisdom that McConnell is a shoo-in to win the primary. In addition, the poll shows that McConnell is indeed the weaker candidate to go up against Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes in the general election. Here are some of the highlights: •Senator McConnell is leading conservative Matt Bevin 53 to 26 percent in the primary. Previously, McConnell has led by 39 and 47 points; now he is only up 27 points. A strong majority, 61%, still have no opinion of Bevin. It is quite clear that as Bevin raises his name ID, he will make this race competitive. •How unpopular is Mitch McConnell? Barack Obama lost the state by 23 points and 116 of 120 counties last year. Even 40% of Democrats voted against the President in the Democrats primary of 2012. Yet, Mitch McConnell sports an identical 31% approval rating statewide. Even among Republicans his approval has dropped to 47%. Clearly, primary voters are getting the message that McConnell is a finger lickin’ fraud. •Matt Bevin is stronger against Grimes in the general election than Mitch McConnell. Bevin keeps Grimes down to 38% of the votes, while against McConnell she polls 42%. It is likely that once Bevin grows his name recognition, he will perform much better. •Only 30% of voters really think that Rand Paul supports McConnell. •Kentucky Republicans say they like Rand Paul better than Mitch McConnell by a 59/27 margin.

Folks, it is clear that Matt Bevin can win a historic upset if he raises enough money to disseminate his message over the airwaves. It’s up to conservatives nationwide to make this happen. You can contribute to Matt Bevin’s campaign online by clicking here.

It is really difficult to beat an incumbent.

Not impossible, but McConnell needs to be under 50%.

“It is really difficult to beat an incumbent.”

Yes it is. But in the last several years, we took out Arlen Specter, Bob Bennett, Richard Lugar and made Lisa Murkowski fight for her political life.

There are now eight republicans with primary challengers. We might not win them all, but we will win some! And those that remain will be on notice, and will be forced to vote conservative for two or four years if they want to keep their seats.

It’s not always about removing an incumbent. That would be great, but it’s also about putting pressure on these oligarchs, and to remind them that they answer to the people.

Even more difficult to beat one as entrenched as McConnell, Graham, or McCain. One small gaffe and the RNC will funnel a flood of cash in to finish off the challenger. Then if the challenger wins, s/he gets no support in the general elecion (think Cuccinelli).

Politics takes money. The Republic is in peril. The Founders pledged "our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor". What can we do?

Support Matt Bevin to oust Mitch McConnell in KY

Yup! That’s the game! That’s why they’re so pissed by the existence of the Senate Conservatives Fund, to give support for these people when the RNC and NRSC refuse to fund ‘certain’ republican nominees.

Don't be a "We Can't Win" Republican - we've got too many of those already.

You don't have to win all of the fights, but if you start off with the attitude of "It is really difficult!" then you become a Boehner or a Ryan...

I love it when a poll confirms what I’m been saying for some time now. Wonder who McConnell would support in the general election if Bevin wins the primary? It’s not clear to me which one he’d pick.

But when Jim Bunning was showing weakness, he nudged him into retirement. But McConnell can just taste being Majority Leader. He granted all kinds of powers and priveleges to the majority leader position because he thought he’d have the position by now. But he put his faith in Mitt Romney and a slew of worthless moderate establishment losers who all went down to defeat last November. Yet he blames the Tea Party for his lack of position.

McConnell probably knows he’s going to lose, so he sees his mission now as helping his buddies by preventing another conservative trouble-maker from getting into the senate.

This topic lead to my new tagline, not that the old one was outdated...lol (The Tea Party was the earthquake, and Chick Fil A the tsunami...100's of aftershocks to come.)

I’d feel much better if there was someone other than Matt Bevin challenging old prune face. How many votes do you think this will cost Bevin?

MIT and other universities market these career enrichment courses very heavily as professional resume enhancers and trade on their reputations to do so. Bevin or someone on his behalf stretched what this was. But does that compare to McConnell's stretch of calling himself a conservative?

No, but which of the above do you think will resonate in the minds of the voters? I'm telling you, this will very well be the cause of another blown opportunity. Just damn!
