Wow! Speaker Boehner really does have a spine, and we thought he was a complete pushover. Now we know he’ll fight...conservatives.

I saw him on Fox News, say he was as conservative as anyone. I am glad I took my blood pressure medication today. It was almost as big a whopper as Obama telling us we could keep our health plan.

Boehner has his principled limits beyond which he cannot be pushed.

Left of center is his limit to the right.

Washington is the problem, not the solution. The system corrupts them faster than we can vote them out. Only the state legislatures can save the country now.

Republicans will face intense pressure over unemployment benefits
BY GREG SARGENT
December 11 at 12:24 pm
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2013/12/11/republicans-will-face-intense-pressure-over-unemployment-benefits/

[snip] The imminent expiration of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program for 1.3 million Americans is mostly being treated as a fait accompli in Washington... (Dems have created an interactive map showing how many people in each state stand to lose benefits.)... This strategy includes placing Op ed pieces by Democrats in papers that serve the districts of top Republicans, such as this one by Rep. Sander Levin in the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, the largest paper in John Boehner’s home state. The game plan is granular: One Democrat points out to me that stats are available on how many would lose benefits on the county level, and that Dems are trying to push these numbers into the coverage, because it is tangible for people in local communities. [/snip]

The Republic Has been Dead for 100 years, we are moving from Denial to Anger phase...

Well said. It has been sick for a hundred years, but it flatlined when Obamacare was passes on that snowey Christmas Eve. And more than the Republic died that night. A special and quiet ingredient in all if us died that night. (Hearing "Happy Holidays" makes me very angry this Christmas season).

Boner has shown that he will fight. Fine.

Let my enemies stand against me in congress but I won’t vote for them.

No it is not all about me. I plan on driving 180 mile to help Amish when I can. But that said I will not vote for a nonconservative republican. My congressman has vote for Bonehead as speaker and everything he ask for.

I may vote for Terri Lyn land for Senate as well but not for the crappy repubs they give me.

“The conservative pressure groups have power because of their threatened ability to oust lawmakers who don’t meet their standard.

“But now Boehner, Ryan, and the rest of the Republican leaders have defied them, essentially calling their bluff.”

Well, payback can’t happen until the mid-term election primaries. The author of this piece is engaged in counting un-hatched chickens.

Exactly, someone told him to allow the shutdown and now they are telling him what to do here. The man appears to be fully compromised.

Note to the American people: You have the power to throw every single member of the House of Representatives out of office in 2014, along with one third of the U.S. Senate. By 2018 you can, if you please, replace every single member of the Congress of the United States. Pretty much the same thing applies to your corrupted state legislatures.

That is all.

If Boehner somehow talks the GOP into passing amnesty after the first of the year they can kiss the conservative base goodbye. That wlll be the final straw for me and Mr. GG2.

Hi.

That’s what I was gonna say. Now I have no good way to bump this thread.

Happens to me all the time, even when I don't read the thread...

Can’t exactly remember when I started calling republicans “them”, but it’s been a good while now.

Do as Robert E. Lee did. In conversation with friends, the GOP-E are now "those people".

You are correct, however I grow weary of totally rigid Consevatives who cannot see the forest for the trees. If you don’t have a Conservative you can vote for in your own state then help one in another.

I live in the blue bowels of progressive hell so I have to go outside to support others. These attitudes made Mitt lose, not that we had any adulation but hell would be better than this, any day

RE: “Republicans will face intense pressure over unemployment benefits.”

I've discussed this on two other threads.

The GOP leadership is currently bragging about its “mature and principled” stand against extreme Conservatives.

But, their spineless budget compromise has bought less than a month of political peace with the MSM and Democrat Party.

Harry Reid is publicly - repeat, publicly - on the record saying he will introduce legislation in January to restore unemployment and Food Stamp cuts, plus legislation to raise the minimum wage.

So, four weeks from now, the MSM will be assaulting the GOP as the party of stone cold heartless misers.

And who is Boehner assaulting?

Conservatives!
