Buy Kosher, it costs a bit more, but at least you will know where it came from.

You can make your own stock from the carcasses of the whole chickens, it’s a bit time-consuming but very easy and much healthier. Boil up 2 or 3 in a big stockpot for a few hours with a couple onions, some celery & carrots (even cheaper — use veggie scraps & peelings — throw & freeze them in a big ziplock until it’s full) and some herbs & pepper. You control the salt, I don’t add much at all. Strain & freeze in small batches you can defrost easily or in ice cube trays (just grab 3 or 4 whenever you need a little for a recipe).

given the number of dogs the Chinese have killed with chicken jerky treats, I wont be eating any processed chicken from China, thanks, nor feeding it to my dog

nor any milkshakes laden with the melamine powder they feed their own babies

A huge amount of Hershey products (& other candy companies) have sent their manufacturers to Mexico...*at Halloween, bag after bag after bag* .....Mexico

..also Nabisco....pick up any package of Fig Newtons....Mexico......also your cereals

Much of your Green Giant and Bird's Eye frozen veggies....Mexico.

Talapia from China....

It takes a discriminating shopper with time on his/her hands to find decent food that's USA manufactured.....The fresh locally grown produce is out there, but the stores display it like a needle in a haystack sometimes.----I don't even hesitate anymore to ask the produce manager where the USA grown products are.

another example.....pick up two packages of the same greens ie, spinach, arugula, etc.....from the same company, same brand, same packaging, same everything and one package will say USA...and the other Mexico.

And we know the standards in Mexico are just as high as ours...:^

Obama is ramping up what George W started....sending ALL the jobs Americans want to do or have been doing for years to other comtries.

I have an Amish farmer in Lancaster Co. Pa. that I buy my beef, pork and chickens from. He raises them on his farm and processes them right there. In fact, one time when I went there he said he was sold out of chickens but if I could wait he would get me one. He "processed" that chicken right in front of me. It was the freshest chicken (and tastiest) I ever bought.

I also have noticed that even some organic produce and meats are coming from China. I won't touch the stuff...

Obama wants to destroy the American chicken industry....it is part of transforming America. Destroying the US airline industry by imposing new fees on tickets is another strep in the transformation. Democrat and Republican politicians are all part of the destructive transformation of this once-great nation.

What that means is that chickens from the United States will be shipped all the way over to China, processed in plants over there, and then shipped back across the Pacific Ocean for us to eat

The chicken is raised here. It's slaughtered here. It would have to be shipped to China in refrigerated containers just to process it into Chicken McNuggets or something, then it has to be shipped back on refrigerated containers. Where exactly are the cost savings?

This from the country that put drywall in baby formula because it tested positive as a protein.

I kinda thought ‘we’ were supposed to be green, leave a small footprint, buy local, reduce fuel/transport of goods.

“He “processed” that chicken right in front of me.”

My mom used to do this back in the early 50’s. It wasn’t a pleasant site for a youngster like myself.

Remember. There are slews of Chinese and Thai restaurants whose menus are laden with chicken dishes.

The chickens that tumble into those woks will remain unidentified.

It presents a huge business opportunity for American-based producers to create an entire business model and marketing campaign around a "Our Chicken Ain't Made in China" "Made in the U.S.A." brand.

Well, that's for sure. Chicken is the main protein in our house. I don't know if we're going to be able to afford the upcharge, but I know we won't be eating Chinese chicken. It'll be like the good old days when we were first married - eggs, grilled cheese, soup, and peanut butter.

They get our beef and are not labeling where it is processed.

Our once understandable world has been turned upside down by an either complicit or completely ignorant Congress.

How can these morons sit by, or prance about in front of C-Span cameras and not do anything about the complete demise of America?

For convenience sake people are going to buy chicken that was: slaughtered in the US, frozen, sailed across the Pacific, thawed, and processed by people who don't care about quality or sanitation. Then it's frozen again, sailed back across the Pacific and distributed by truck.

That is a very well travelled bird. No thanks.

Even MOTTS apple juice has “china” stamped in very small letters on the plastic bottles that Costco sells (not on the paper label). Market Baskets private label apple juice - same thing- stamped in very small, barely readable letters on the plastic bottle- “china”.

fwiw, a lot of towns have 'farm to market' areas....where you can buy fresh local produce...

..this has also contributed to 'farm to market bistros'....we have one in our town....very popular....and all their tasty dishes are from the produce grown a couple miles away....

..I am starting to see this type of eatery in other places-(there's a wonderful one in the tiny town of Cortez, Colorado)

....and folks know that they are eating fresh, and healthy...even though a bit more pricey.
