The NYPD believe just four men may have been behind the attack on a Kenyan mall that killed more than 60 civilians in September and they all probably escaped alive.
The report, released on Tuesday, contradicts many of the claims made by Kenyan authorities, who had previously said that as many as 15 attackers were involved, including possible foreign nationals, and that they held hostages.
More than 60 civilians and six soldiers died in the Sept. 21 assault by terrorists from Somalia's Al-Qaeda-linked Shebab terror group on the Westgate Mall in Nairobi. The victims aged eight to 78, from 13 different countries.
On Tuesday morning, New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said that while investigators didn’t know ‘with certainty’ how many people were involved, ‘we believe there were only four shooters.’
The New York police report said the last confirmed sighting of the attackers on the mall's CCTV system was .... 12 hours after the start of the attack.
It took the Kenyan military almost four days to declare the mall safe. The day before doing so, Kenyan forces started a fire and collapsed a large part of the mall, the report said.
‘It is unknown if the terrorists were killed or escaped the mall. A major contributing factor to this uncertainty was the failure to maintain a secure perimeter around the mall,’ it said.....
According to the NYPD, the attackers carried only light weapons, there was no evidence that they had taken hostages and it was apparent that the Kenyan military had actually looted the high-end shopping complex.
The report also discredited the theory that the female British jihadi known as the White Widow was at the mall....
He questioned the Kenyan authorities’ theory that four of the attackers died when explosions collapsed parts of the mall.....

Sounds like the Kenyan police were about as effective as our Kenyan president.

They thought they could get away with it because we all know how chicks love shopping -- especially white ones and especially at high end malls in Kenya.
We already have our military with their fingers in every pie, and now the police have to go on foreign misadventures too?
Any and all black malfeasance all over the world is either made up by white people, caused by white people, or the justifiable revenge for something some white people did in the past.

Lotta malls in the US. Have to study any and all terr acty that might be applicable to US targets. Personally, I’m surprised that they haven’t tried something precisely like that here already.
And by African standards Kenya is rich, stable and the police / military are well trained.

I'm thinking that we're getting by on the stupidity of our enemies, rather than any genius-level work on our part.
If you look back on 9/11, they managed to put 20 well-trained (enough to pilot an airliner, not a trivial task), well-motivated (enough to kill themselves) people in this country ...... and then blew them all up. No sense there.
If they had just let these 20 people raise hell in middle America, instead ..... man, I shudder to think of it.
I remember early on in this there was talk of an Israeli commando unit going in — and then that was quashed. The Kenyans couldn’t have that because it would have deprived their crack military of their traditional looting spree.
It’s a shame when investigators a world away have to be brought in to tell you what happened in your own house.
They probably actually talked to witnesses, looked at the CCTV tapes, and considered the evidence.
Amazing how that dropped out of the news real quick.
We westerners are so stupid some times. We think that terrorists are going to hang around for 4 days after an attack holding hostages and waiting to die.
Why would they do that when they can do all the damage they need to in the first 12 hours and then change their clothes and walk right through that crack impenetrable Kenyan police perimeter.
