An estimated seven out of every 10 physicians in deep-blue California are rebelling against the state's Obamacare health insurance exchange and won't participate, the head of the state's largest medical association said.
[Snip]
If a large number of doctors either balk at participating in the exchange or retire, the states medical system could be overwhelmed.
No one is more aware of this than Alex Briscoe, health director for Alameda County Health Care Services Agency, which includes Oakland.
Enrollment doesnt mean access, because there arent enough doctors to take the low rates of Medicaid, he said. There arent enough primary care physicians, period.
Briscoe hopes his eight community health centers can handle the 200,000 uninsured individuals he said reside in his county, but he warned that there is a doctor shortage. It is going to get worse as more people enter the market.

The best medical advice I can offer at this point is to not get sick!
Of course the doctors are PO’d.
Even the slackjawed leftist are turning on the Obama disaster.
Did you know your President ordered that US flags be flown at half-staff to honor the African Communist terrorist? And he is not even an American; but then, neither is Barack Al-Obama.
. . . and if you do get sick, die quickly?
Not even Alan Grayson can offer a defense to Obamacare at this point.
It is obviously time to nationalize the medical profession. /sarc
Good for them!
I was in a doctors office in west LA not long ago when a friend was getting some minor ortho surgery..The surgeon came out into the waiting room, saw Obama on the TV and suddenly commented loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, "Obama is a lying corrupt crook"..
Classic stuff...about half those in the waiting room just gawked at him and the other half had the thumbs up..
That's pretty much what's happened in Frants. The only mainstream routes to physican-dom are paved and guarded by The State: state college, state medical school, and state-only employment at around $85,000 a year. (The only upside is that you have no malpractice insurance -- the French at least have sensibly done away with most such cases where the care was given at state expense -- and no overhead, because of course you are working for The State rather than setting up your own clinic.)
California’s own version of the Alamo?
You’re spamming that comment on multiple threads... it’s offensive.
Now we’ll have to finally talk about how rights to other people’s wages and services becomes indentured servitude.
Of nine physicians treating friends, not one has indicated the slightest interest in participating in obammycare
The state should require them to join as a condition of practicing medicine. If they don’t join, take away their licenses and call it a tax.
It will go something like this: “Every citizen has a ‘right to equal healthcare’, and doctors are part of the healthcare system, therefore they are required to provide equal healthcare to every citizen regardless of the healthcare plan the citizen has.”
Now, in late 2011, my doctor left, so I had no doctor. One was recommended to me so I called that office and it was great until I said I had Medicare. The lady said the doctor does not take Medicare. What could I say in response to that? Nothing. I can tell you I didn't think much of that doctor who wouldn't take me as a patient. It was his right, but I surely didn't like to get dumped. I felt like less a person than a younger person who had “regular” insurance.
I remember when we didn't have Medicare - my mother had regular insurance. Then Medicare came along and she was forced to take it since regular insurance for older people went away. I am forced to take Medicare or have no insurance and doctors can dump me and all who have Medicare, if they want and I don't like it.
bh0 merely orders the conscription of all doctors into the US military and assigns them to clinics across the USA. And pays them as 2LTs or PFCs if they are registered republicans
We can safely bet there are numeous leftists plotters sitting around devising schemes to require doctors to accept all Obamacare patients and payment plans.
I don’t think they could get that legislation now, but they’ll certainly jump at the first chance. I wonder if an individual state could pass and enforce such laws.
Offensive? Is the truth offensive to you?
Like in Venezuela where price supports makes everything cheap and the shelves bare.
You can’t find any items for sale, but boy are they cheap!
We’re just a very short step from another mandate. If doctors won’t willingly participate, they’ll be MADE to participate.
Ayn Rand looks more and more prophetic every day.
And then, given the shortage of doctors, how long until a medical H1-B program is used to import third world medical "providers" to service the unwashed masses, i.e. American citizens.
It's going to get really ugly, but that was the whole idea of Obamacare in the first place.
