It is obviously time to nationalize the medical profession. /sarc
That's pretty much what's happened in Frants. The only mainstream routes to physican-dom are paved and guarded by The State: state college, state medical school, and state-only employment at around $85,000 a year. (The only upside is that you have no malpractice insurance -- the French at least have sensibly done away with most such cases where the care was given at state expense -- and no overhead, because of course you are working for The State rather than setting up your own clinic.)
I'm guessing that obummer will start pushing for nationalizing the doc's before the end of 2014.
