Two-Thirds Oppose Any ObamaCare Insurer Bailout
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 12/5/2013 | John Merline

The public overwhelmingly opposes any ObamaCare bailout of the insurance industry, the latest IBD/TIPP Poll found, even as the Obama administration is paving the way to do just that.

The survey found that 65% oppose a federal bailout of insurance companies that find their profits hit because not enough young, healthy people sign up for ObamaCare plans.

Opposition is widespread, the poll of 907 adults found, with 51% of Democrats, 71% of Republicans and 76% of independents against it. It's opposed by every age and demographic group as well.

Although few people knew about it until recently, the health law contains a three-year "risk corridor program" designed to bail out insurers if costs were higher than anticipated from too few young people enrolled.

The insurance companies will be bailed out. The unions will be exempted. The taxpayers will get screwed.

Not just no to this crap. HELL NO!

There seems to be no end to the way Obama is spending money the country does not have. Unless Congress can shut off the spigot and quickly, Obama will accomplish his dream of bringing down the country and enslaving its population.

What is needed is to repeal this law while we still can.

I am against bailing out Insurance Companies, but it’s bailout or Single Payer.

Whoever contrived this mess was brilliant. They wanted Single Payer and we are going to get it. Was this part of Cloward-Pliven?. It sure works the same way

As I understood it, the insurance companies went along with obamacare because they believed they could make money on a captive customer base that would be required by law to purchase their product. In other words, they willingly supported obamacare when their objections would have helped to kill it.

Therefore, I have no sympathy for them. I would not bail them out by any means.

If the current corrupt insurance companies who jumped on this Obandwagon fail; Perfect.

Then as Americans always do, some enterprising souls will create new Insurance companies to be both company and customer based in a way that the current failing government will be incapable of corrupting because as we see, they are always light years behind innovation. By the time they realize what is happening, they will have been voted out by an enraged population and replaced by a new breed who will not cower to the then emasculated Obama Administration.

Some observers think the resulting costs of an ObamaCare bailout could reach half a billion dollars in the first year.

That's only half an ObamaCare website ... only about 0.6 of a percent of a monthly QE infusion ... lost in the rounding of the annual money print ... Chickenfeed!

I’m glad that someone is *finally* calling 0Care what it is: a bailout for the health insurance industry. Better late than never.

This was the plan all along, destroy the insurance system. The wrinkle is that its working a little faster than they planned so people are noticing it. They need to find a way to turn the pot back on simmer so the frog won’t jump out. They will do it, people are already going back to sleep.

Actually the Obamacare law is quite clear about this. The law provides a mechanism for the government to cover a share but not all of the insurance company losses. And there is no support for supporting insurance company profits.

Obama want to wave his magic EO wand and cover all losses and as well as insurance company profits so that premiums won’t be raised.

Who will stop him? Congress? Chief Justice Roberts?

If early enrollment numbers are a harbinger of a continuing trend, insurers ARE going to need a bailout. If they don't get one, future premiums are going to go through the roof and more and more people are not going to able to afford coverage.

The pressure will be on to raise the income threshold for Medicaid access.

IMO, that's the end game - to get as many people as possible on Medicaid which IS single payer. You don't have to mention the words "single payer".

The problem isn't lack of innovation. It's profit-killing regulation. No one will pony up risk capital for an industry that was killed by government regulations.

Exactly. Government screwed this up. If the insurance companies' financial models are all screwed up because gov't destroyed the market, then we either bailout the companies or let them all fail and the gov't takes over.

That means it’s a certainty.

Well, yes, there’s that. The way things are going, though, I’m a little more queasy that we’re in danger of some Stalinesque purge. I guess it depends on how fast public opinion spirals downhill & 0’s reaction. Creeps me out.

aside: Considering good buddy Bill Ayers outright statements about “re-education”, killing those that fail, & Oprah’s quote- that old, White people will have to die (for racism to end), none of this seems very far-fetched.
