I think this “feud” is a carefully calculated move on Liz’s part to attract lots of media attention to her “conservative” bone-fides. It’s a political ploy.

Yep. Since graduating from high school in Virginia (DC) Liz has spent a lot more time working in the State Department than Wyoming. She's may actually have less bona fides in Wyoming than Hillary did in New York.

As someone pointed out, it’s really the ball-and-chain who is causing all the trouble.

If Cheney had made it clear to Mary privately, and if necessary, made it clear to the public that he was against homosexual “marriage”, Mary and her friend might never have dared to publicly air their grievances.

I think where things went wrong is when Liz and the family showed support for Mary.

**************************

Agreed. Without that support, they might not have felt validated and might not have chosen to confront Liz publicly.

Absolutely correct.

Dick Cheney is pro-gay, remember he supported homosexualizing the military and was willing to run on gay marriage, almost a decade and a half ago.

05/09/2012 ——Gay Conservative Groups: Good Obama Adopted (DICK)Cheney Position On Same-Sex Marriage:
“”Both groups, Log Cabin Republicans and GOProud, also made specific mention of former Vice President Dick Cheney, downplaying Obama’s statement because the Republican embraced same-sex marriage first.””

07/30/12——Dick Cheney Defends His Silence On Gay Marriage In 2000:
“”WASHINGTON — Dick Cheney says he didn’t see the point of raising the issue of gay marriage in the 2000 presidential campaign, even though he supported it.
The former vice president suggested it wouldn’t have done much good and probably would have sunk President George W. Bush’s prospects for office.””

02/17/2012——Dick Cheney Part Of Marriage Equality Lobbying Effort In Maryland: Report:
“”WASHINGTON — Dick Cheney is part of a lobbying campaign to convince at least one Maryland state lawmaker to back marriage equality, the Baltimore Sun reported on Thursday. Since leaving the vice president’s office, Cheney has been increasingly vocal in his support for same-sex marriage, but the extent of his engagement on the issue was not previously well known.””

That sounds reasonable. Certainly more reasonable than my supposition. I just don’t know if Mary was willing to keep it private. Gays have an ugly habit of blasting all news about their proclivities to everybody who can hear.

Liz opposed DOMA, opposed a marriage amendment, supported and praised homosexualizing the military, cheered the state department’s homosexual support, and has supported “gay Marriage” for years, and has always been totally silent on abortion, until this campaign, when she suddenly announced as being anti-gay and anti-abortion.

This is a unified and committed family, doing political theater to create this news of disagreement, to temporarily separate Liz from their family agenda, so that she can prevail in this campaign.

“Unlike Enzi, the 46-year-old daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney supports the right for states to legalize gay marriage. At least that’s what she said in 2009, in an interview with MSNBC, of all places. At that was a time when the notion of same-sex marriage had considerably less support.
And that has even Daily Kos writer Scott Welch offering at least limited praise for Liz Cheney.”

“”Well, look I think, you know, my family has been very clear about this, that we think freedom means freedom for everybody and that this is an issue that states have to decide for themselves.””

“”She went on to reiterate opposition to a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, expressed support for the State Department’s extension of benefits to same-sex couples, and said, ‘I think it’s wrong to discriminate, in those relationships, based on someone’s sexual preference.’ Additionally, she supported repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.””

Yes, they do. Imho, it’s because they know they are wrong.

Thanks for those links. Some may differ, but if you are wrong on fundamental issues like queer sex, then you are no conservative.

While many think he turned out to be a RINO, I don’t think he favored homosexual rights. And having his daughter turn out to be a lezzie put him in an embarrassing position.
* * * *
If so, he should have put the country and western civilization ahead of the feelings of the lezzie daughter. Standing for something that’s right when it negatively impacts you is what makes a statesman.
**********
Agreed. Cheney cares more about keeping family peace than sticking-up for what’s morally right and good for the country. Mary started the fight in a public forum, so he can no longer be silent.

You are welcome, and there are more of course.

Perhaps someone can find her being pro-life before this campaign.

At 46 years of age, and with many years in politics, including being on Romney’s team in 2008 and countless interviews and questionings, Liz never revealed any pro-life position before this campaign transformation, that I could find.

In this situation it basically muzzles the parent. You don’t want to publicly state you are ashamed of your children.

Remaining silent on the subject is probably the best policy.

There will be plenty of others to sound off on it.

I feel for parents put in this situation. I haven’t always agreed with Cheney, but... between him and Barry, it would be a no brainer, since one of them has no brain.

Why on earth would he have done that? He fully supports gay marriage.

"Former Vice President Dick Cheney has revealed that although he has long been a supporter of same-sex marriage, he did not speak out in support of the issue during the 2000 presidential campaign because it could have harmed former President George W. Bush's chances of winning."

Quite frankly, I think I would cut such a sibling out of my life(at least, until he or she grew up). There is no right to the absolute approval, endorsement and agreement of anyone else.

“and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
