The dirt roads here are ominously empty. So are the villages.
Every few kilometres the thick bush recedes to reveal a few mud brick houses with straw roofs. Sometimes a dog or a goat stares from a doorway. Many of the homes have been burnt.
But where are the people?

Towards evening we stopped in the market town of Bossangoa, where some 40,000 civilians are currently seeking shelter - Muslims at a mosque, Christians in the grounds of the Catholic church.
"The relationship on the streets between Muslims and Christians is broken. Perhaps forever," said Father Dieudonne. "But if Seleka leave town, maybe the relationship can survive."

I’m of the mind that anywhere this happens (Muslims threatening Christians) we send in a quick team to completely kill and annhilate the Muslims, then quickly leave. They come back, we go back.
We have the tech and rapid response abilities to easily do this.
Just make it that clear. Perhaps after many times they will put two and two together that the helpless Christians in these villages have a consistent guardian angle.
It should be permanent US policy. No Nation building, no humanitarian efforts, just simple pest eradication. Like an exterminator.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.
