Just a few dozen stations now carry liberal talkers, as key affiliates in cities with active left-wing politics are falling like dominoes, going dark or switching formats. Detroit’s progressive outlet shut down in January, along with Seattle’s liberal talk station, which changed to sports. And after last year’s election, Portland’s progressive talk station ended its political programming.
With the political battlegrounds of 2014 and 2016 on the horizon, reducing the whopping imbalance between conservative radio, with its huge fan base, and the left has become more important than ever, according to those in the progressive media world.
POLITICO spoke with a dozen radio talkers, media observers and industry insiders to get their take on how the troubled medium of progressive political talk can be saved — but it’s not going to be easy.
1. Don’t be a shill for the Democratic Party
If progressive radio really wants to get on the map, its hosts would do well to remember that one of the reasons the liberal talk radio network Air America flopped was that they “forgot they were in the radio business, not in the get my candidate elected business,” said Al Peterson, publisher and editor of talk radio trade NTS MediaOnline Today. . .

Envy and Hate Radio only works with HUGE subsidies, as we saw with both Air America, and now Pacifica.
The left has thrown BIG money at this in Election Cycles, while they wither and die between elections.
Why do they need talk radio, when they have all the other media under their control?
There is one way. Tell the truth! People do not tolerate bullcrap. If libs told the truth, they wouldn’t have to lie to the people to get their failed message across.
What’s to be embarrassed about. You are socialists,admit it. You are Marxists, admit it. The fact that liberals have to lie to prove their ideology is just is the first issue.

Leftists control 99% of the media and they worry about this? Leftists don’t want to listen to leftists on the radio, I think this has been shown over and over.
Leftist radio shows cannot afford to allow reality and facts to become part of the mix by allowing non-lefty callers

If liberal radio wants to win, it has to completely abandon the Democratic Party. Al Franken sold his liberal soul to get elected and he has been a complete failure.
The liberal shows I have heard always had one commonality: The host always answered the question he wanted to answer. He never addressed the caller head-on.
Get some people with actual talent, for starters.
WHAT?
The highest rated, highest budgeted, biggest-staffed, most listened to radio show in the country by far is MORNING EDITION. It is an extremely liberal show filled with pseudo-objectivity, homosexuality, democrat talking points and incessant “crafting” of the “most important stories of the day,” according to the leftist executive producers.
NPR is a major shill for the donkeys.
There is no way to rescue them. People who vote liberal are uneducated and uninterested in being educated. They will be found listening to the music formats.

After Mario Cuomo the liberal godfather was defeated for reelection as NY Gov-for-life, he started a talk show which folded in less than a year (”capitalist rightwing conspiracy among the advertisers!”).
The show’s trademark was Pope Mario the Pious’s hanging up on any caller who uttered the word “liberal”.
Alan Colme’s liberal rantfest folded three times for the same reason - those evil capitalists.
