63 Percent Chance Weather Predictors Are Skeptics on Global Warming
Townhall.com ^ | November 25, 2013 | John Ransom

A new survey from the American Meteorological Society contains more bad news for global warming alarmist: people who actually get paid for accurately predicting weather are increasingly skeptical about whether global warming is man-made or natural or whether global warming is occurring at all.

The survey is the result of increasing tension amongst meteorologists regarding global warming.

“There has been tension in recent years among AMS members who hold different views on climate change,” explains the AMS in the introduction to the new report. “Some members have expressed that their views – which question the view that human-caused global warming was occurring – are treated with hostility within the AMS.”

Scientists? Bullying each other? Naaaaww.

The report found that only 37% of meteorologists who did not make a living by publishing papers supporting the theory that global warming is caused by human activity actually think that man-made global warming is real.

That is meteorologists who make a living predicting weather events are the ones least likely to believe the theories created by new found “climate science.”

The survey also found that of all meteorologists only a bare majority supported man-made global warming theory.

48 percent did not support man-made global warming theory.

The AMS sent out a survey to all meteorologists and got a return of 1854 responses.

The AMS says that the study finds that the more educated experts are about climate science, the more likely they are to believe that global warming is man-made.

But I say that the data just proves that the more dependent scientists are on believing global warming to be man-made in order to make a living through publishing, the more likely they are to believe global warming is man-made because that’s how they make their living.

Of 1821 meteorologist included in the survey, only 231 made a living publishing papers regarding man-made global warming theory. Yet they accounted for a larger share of meteorologists who believe in man-made global warming.

73% of scientists who publish papers regarding global warming and climate are inclined to believe that global warming is real and global warming is man-made.

The farther that science gets from this conflict of interest, it seems, the more likely it is that they are disinclined to believe global warming is man-made.

In essence, it’s as if a group surveyed the College of Cardinals to prove the existence of God and ascribed the results to the college members’ oversized education rather than their piety.

And all of this goes to show that the argument that there has already been a scientific consensus reached amongst experts that global warming is real and global warming is man-made is a political argument rather than a scientific one.

“A substantial number of expert AMS members – 22% of the most expert group in our sample – do not subscribe to the position that global warming is mostly human-caused,” says the AMS. “Climate experts are not completely homogenous in their views on global warming, just as climate skeptics have been shown to have a variety of nuanced opinions. Any suggestion that all those with non-majority views simply need to be ‘educated’ is inaccurate and likely to be insulting to a substantial number of AMS members.”

Gee, ya think?

Those of us who are skeptics about global warming are used to being marginalized, trivialized and brutalized by a tiny fraction of people whose wallets get fat by publishing papers in support of man-made global warming theory.

But while more and more data comes out calling into question man-made global warming models, it’s nice to see professional organizations start to treat skeptics with, if not exactly respect, at least the decency accorded people accused of some heinous crime.

Because while this is progress, make no mistake they’re still looking to prove us guilty, if necessary by reason of insanity, if in fact they can’t muster the scientific arguments.

Which of course they can’t.

I would encourage folks to pick up (hard to find) a copy of The Temper of our Time by Eric Hoffer (the only American intellectual of modern times who never stepped foot within any university and was a self-taught man). Chapter two of the book is Automation, Leisure, and the Masses. A short piece you can read in fifteen minutes.

Basically, he outlines society and cultures who reach some stage of automation and people have no useful occupation. So they reach out and start to do things of no value...like talk climate control or global warming. The book was published in 1964, but it easily details how society has ‘drifters’ who find something to attach themselves to, and feel important.

Generally, the climate control crowd wouldn’t be that big of a threat....if they didn’t have the anti-capitalists sitting in the midst of their bunch. Somehow....every solution to climate control or global warming....has something to do with screwing up capitalism, jobs, the economy, or turning a society upside down. For that reason, no rational person can take anything serious.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls our climates.

3. The earth is a rock.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

No matter what evidence there is that absolutely proves there is no man made global warming, the true believers will never admit it.

But how do they explain this massive change in just 30 years?

I'd like to ax the Time editors to 'splain this dichotomy.

For some reason, I find myself thinking about those surveys that purport to show that liberals are more educated than conservatives by asking questions that are nothing but a list of liberal beliefs presented as fact.

A few days ago, I looked at some website about global warming. Amusingly, its author attempted to show that anthropogenic global warming is real by pointing out many of the same features of CO2 that I use to argue that CO2 cannot possibly be a driver of global temperature.

17 degrees in central Va right now. That’s 18 degrees colder than “normal” for November.

A few years back, we had 60 degree days in Dec and on our local news, the anchor woman half joked with the meteorologist about AGW. The Meteorologist express skepticism regarding AGW.

Our local paper hen was filled wit people writing to the editor demanding his removal. What do Climate alarmists and radical Muslims have in common?????

29° here in my town right now. It was 20° yesterday when I got up at 5:00am, and it took forever to climb to 33°

This proves the point that over the past two generations that either we have “dumbed down” to the level of third graders in the learning of REAL natural science or that eating “liberal pie” has affected the thinking process.

Actually, I think the disease of Political Correctness (PC) has destroyed their ability to think independently and rationality simply has gone “poof!”

You have to realize that these “learned scholars” are nothing more than perpetual students performing nothing useful to society and continually making new studies to support their worthless careers until retirement.

Ask any of them: “What happened to melt the Ice age?” “What caused the ice age?” “What made it melt again?” “What happened to make it come back again....” And on and on again, but you won’t get a logical answer.

The fact is that we stand totally unable to answer these questions with actually scientific facts....only conjecture based upon “studies.”

With the knowledge that they don’t actually know anything and cannot give tangible, positive proof of their claims, they might as well change their endeavors to making gold from lead.

The Weather Channel preaches GW BS all the time. They also add in liberal talking points and news. I used to watch that channel but gave it up over a year ago. It makes me want to puke listening to those morons injecting propaganda into every show. WAKE UP, AL!

Is scientific fact based on consensus a new liberal notion? I know it is not a scientific notion.

This does not surprise me.

The AGW mantra "weather is not climate" hides the fact that climate is weather, averaged over time and regions of the earth. I think the "climatologists" who have made their living working leftists into a froth may actually not understand that the unpredictability of weather is a property of the same dynamical system they are studying coarse-grained, and think it's akin to random variation or statistical noise. Weather forecasters deal with the fact that it's a chaotic dynamical system, and that the unpredictability is not due to statistical noise, but to the nature of the dynamics and the impossibility of gathering sufficiently complete and accurate date.

At one time, there was a consensus that the sun revolved around the Earth.
At one time, there was a consensus that the Earth was flat.

Disagreement is healthy in matters scientific.

There can be no DISCOVERY without controversial ideas.

What is NOT healthy is the economic and career pressure being brought to bear on those with opinions which vary from the leadership. Enforced orthodoxy stifles creativity and works against DISCOVERY.

The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

Scale doesn't matter in and of itself. What does matter is that the Sun's output varies as a result of various chaotic factors, and the effects of such variations are vastly more significant than any effects attributable to anthropogenic CO2. While it is theoretically possible that such natural variation might drive the planet so close to the brink that a reduction in atmospheric CO2 would represent the difference between a recoverable climate and oblivion, the probability of that occurring is totally dwarfed by the possibility that solar events may disrupt the Earth's climate (no matter what we do) that the only way to survive will be to have developed sufficient technology to cope with such things by the time they occur, and survival will depend upon humanity having not stagnated its economy in the name of "global warming".
