Minnesota senator Al Franken, a Democrat, opens the door to a delay of the Obamacare individual mandate in an interview with Minnesota Public Radio.
The Washington Post reports:
Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) says he would be open to a brief delay in the individual mandate if the problems with HealthCare.gov aren't fixed by the end of the month, according to Minnesota Public Radio.
"I think then we have to consider extending the deadline for the mandate, but lets hope that doesn't happen," Franken told MPR.
Franken has so far been relatively quiet about potential changes to the health-care law, but he now joins a growing group of Senate Democrats in seats that could be targeted by the GOP in 2014 who are speaking up on the issue.

al franken, crapping in his diaper and extending his long career of NOT making people laugh.
Uh oh. Trouble in snow capped paradise. There are a lot of candidates in this race. A regular parking lot brawl primary. None of them seem particularly remarkable or competitive, but if its a real wave (one that sweeps out Udall in CO), Franken may be gone.
I seem to recall some other Senator suggesting the same thing a short while ago...
But I bet Mitch McConnell disagrees with me on this.
Of course. Stuart is up for re-election.
So he agrees with Senator Cruz, then.
....but if its a real wave (one that sweeps out Udall in CO), Franken may be gone.
Very good point. It’s not looking good for Udall and Franken is a total puke.
I hope we sweep the whole lot of those that were swept in in 2008, Franken, Merkely, Udall, Udall, Hagan, Shaheen, Warner, Begich, and I think there’s one more I can’t remember.
AL is wearing stiletto heels and gorilla costume into the gorilla cage with Obamacare. Trading Places was only a movie.
Landrieu and Pryor.
Right, those two too. But I thought there was another one elected in 2008. The democrats had 51 after 2006 then 60 after 2008 once Franken finally won. And then of course Kennedy died and we had that fiasco.
Quite. In fact, this is not about health care at all. This is about government taking control of our personal choices, deciding for us what medical treatment is available and what is not. Who is useful and who is not. We will finally be their chattel. Read again Aldous Huxley’s BRAVE NEW WORLD and focus on the time traveler’s visit to the hospitals. Are we there yet?
Are you thinking of the Lautencorpse seat now held by Cory ‘T-Bone’ Booker??
there’s Schatz, Durbin, Reed, Markey, and Coons apart from that.
Oh! F’n Specter was the 60th when he changed parties!
Poll numbers are dropping like a rock for all the Democrats. Right now they’re saying delays-not repeal. We’ll see what another two months will do.
Nothing like the smell of panic in the morning. Smells like victory.
Visions of torches and pitchforks are dancing in his head.
Al Franken: ‘We Have to Consider Extending the Deadline for the Mandate ,,, until I get re-elected.”
“Poll numbers are dropping like a rock for all the Democrats. Right now theyre saying delays-not repeal. Well see what another two months will do.”
Some Liberal AH on O’Gasbag ( with Laura) tonight had to admit that if “the Website” isn’t fixed and everything running smoothly by the first of the year, that the RATs are in real trouble. The good news is, that that’s what’s going to happen! There just isn’t any way that any of it is going to get “fixed” by then! In reality, there simply “isn’t a fix.” The RATs are circling the wagons, but it’s just a circular firing squad.
