The Senate vote Thursday to lower the barriers for presidential nominations should make it easier for President Obama to accomplish key second-term priorities, including tougher measures on climate change and financial regulation, that have faced intense opposition from Republicans in Congress.
The move to allow a simple majority vote on most executive and judicial nominees also sets the stage for Obama to appoint new top officials to the Federal Reserve and other key agencies probably leading to more aggressive action to stimulate the economy and housing market. And it frees Obama to make changes to his Cabinet without the threat of long delays in the Senate before the confirmation of nominees.

It's gonna be pedal to the metal for more of my good ideas ...
The American people may not know about the rule change, but I bet they would endorse the concept. (Majority rules means a lot to “Americans” if they are in the majority, that is.)
Will the House Repubs do their own nuclear option and shut down the government in Jan.?
Good ideas? He has not had ONE since he came to Washington as a Senator.

Last night I listened to Savage play 8 year-old clips of harry, biden, bama, kerry et al. bemoaning the prospective loss of the filibuster, as they were in the minority at the time. Were the Republicans, some of them, angling to do away with the filibuster at that time? What provoked so much wailing and gnashing of teeth, or was it a false issue that the Dems used to try to embarrass the then majority party?
Don't think Barry O's is getting anything else passed....
Great pic! I’m afraid with the Senate rule change there’s no stopping amnesty. After that... the Republicans will never win another election and we will have one party rule from that point forward.
The holding of all powers - legislative, executive, and judiciary - in the same hands, whether by one person, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, is the very definition of tyranny.- James Madison.
They floated the idea of the nuclear option in response to the ‘rats denying all of Bush’s judicial appointees.
Since the republicans have never acted like a opposition party they might as well go home until obama leaves office. They’re irrelevant so let every law passed by passed 55-0. I guarantee if the republicans did this the democrats would be begging them to come back.
Thanks. And I agree.
Only 2 more hours left before we can declare this the dumbest FR post of the day!
No they won’t.....fools if they do for the “perception” will be certainly presented the Republicans are to blame for any shutdown..the media will make certain of that.
With the “undeclared war” which now exists between mainstream of American and the established political class of both parties and the media..... it will not fair well if they do so.
Zachary sounds like a new O bootlicker in training.
That idea didn’t work in Venezuala, why do you think it would work here?

Little Harry Reid gave her the green light...along with 51 other Demonrats.
When the history of this era is written, the Reid coup of 11/21/13 may have the same significance for the consolidation of power by the Democratic Socialists of America as the Enabling Act of 1933 did for the National Socialists of Germany.
