Dems reveal 2014 strategy: Smash and grab
fox news ^ | 11/22/13 | c stirewalt

The Obama administration will delay by one month next year’s ObamaCare enrollment period, pushing what promises to be broader and even more painful disruptions to existing policies past midterm elections. With Democrats poised to lose control of the Senate, this could be a very big deal. With new regulations set to ban more policies and the prospect of millions of Americans being dumped from their employer-based health insurance, next fall promises to be a painful season for ObamaCare implementation. But by delaying the start of the enrollment season, the White House may be able to push some of the outrage past Election Day and perhaps spare vulnerable Democrats. With massive disruptions and exploding premiums for existing policy holders expected, a Nov. 1 start date will come just four days ahead of voting and long after many citizens have gone to the polls to cast early ballots. Fox News has more.Bloomberg broke the story and has details.

[“The death of this law would be for health insurance companies to price policies for 2015 in a way that premiums skyrocket.” – Ana Gupte, a health-industry analyst, talking to Bloomberg.]

Nuke it - The move by Senate Democrats to dump nearly 225 years of precedent and end the 60-vote threshold for presidential appointments for every post other than Supreme Court justice will give President Obama a historic opportunity to ram through his nominees. Aside from lifetime federal judgeships, Obama now has the chance to replace troubled cabinet officials (Kathleen Sebelius, you have a call on line one) or install nominees previously rejected as ideologically extreme or ethically challenged. He can do it all without worrying about Republicans and can even lose as many as five moderate Democrats.

Doesn't this seem similar to the Knock-Out strategy?

Hit 'em from behind when they are defenseless.

They’re going to let him delay this until right after the election? This is a f-ing outrage! He has no constitutional authority to do that, especially in such a blatant political fashion. He needs to be investigated. He needs to be impeached. He needs to be ARRESTED!

Won’t work. Too many Senators and House Democrats on record saying they support Obamacare. It’s only will increase the anxiety among voters who know their insurance is going to be canceled. Whether there will be enough Democratic Senators kicked out to make a difference in overriding vetoes is another issue.

I knew this would happen, and predicted it. The GOP let him get away with other delays and changes, so he now has the ability to do anything he wants without any opposition.

It won’t work for the R vote of course and it will definitely lose much of the Independent vote and the few smart D’s but the hard core and low information D’s are forever lost to food stamps, welfare checks, *free* healthcare and Obamaphones.

Instead of I Voted stickers . . . we need to start handing out I’m Stupid stickers at the predominately D precincts. haha at the entrance ala Black Panther style dressed in camo and holding sticks. Wanna bet that might make the news on the alphabet channels?

It’s now a matter of whether it’s a run-of-the-mill dictatorship or a total dictatorship.

Doubt it, but even just a simple majority is extremely helpful, compared to where they are now. What is the veto override threshold anyway? 67?

I knew this would happen, and predicted it.

It won't help Obama in the slightest.

If you knew you were going to be given a fatal (but slow-acting) radiation dose in October -- in front of some elections where you could take your revenge -- would it change your voting patterns if they delayed the fatal dose in December, instead?

By delaying the start of enrollment they buy time.

They will use that time to make the website operational.

Most people have insurance through their employer. By delaying the mandate for employers the number of persons effected by a non-functioning website has been minimized.

They knew in March that there were problems with the website. He was briefed on a report warning of the potential for system failure that could make the health care exchanges inaccessible to consumers trying to buy insurance through them. [1,2]

Then, on July 2, Obama announced a year delay for business with 50 or more employees. He bought time. He minimized the effect of the failed website which he knew was in the offing.

He’s betting on the website being operational by the time the vast majority of people lose their employer provided insurance. And as a further contingency, he's pushing past the election.

His delay decree is illegal and Congress ought to declare it irrelevant, of no force, and DEMAND that the law be enforced.

TIME IS NOT OUR ALLY - IT IS OBAMA'S!

Unlike "prosecutorial discretion" which he claimed for refusing to enforce immigration law, he has now gone to issuing decrees which he claims change the law.

Not only is the PPACA not being enforced, he is "changing the law" and encouraging businesses and government agencies - state and federal - to violate law. He is using the bully pulpit to promote criminality.

These decrees are a violation of law, his intimidation of businesses and government agencies, and encouraging others to violate law, are unacceptable. He is a scofflaw.

Impeachment is the remedy.

The lawlessness and chaos must stop.

” He needs to be impeached. “

The constitution clearly has provision on how to handle, impeachment by the House.

The House and Boehner refuse to follow the Constitution.

In my mind, Boehner then is not obeying the Constitution and should be removed from office and tried for violating his oath of office.

So much for our once great Constitution. When will the Repubs stand up?

If they haven't stood up yet, it's doubtful they ever will.

I can see McConnell putting his grandkids on the trains now. "Surely it won't get worse than this"
