On principle, I agree with you, but as a doc I know that it is very difficult at this point to ‘keep Washington out of it’ because we have built a system for years and years and years that is dependent upon federal programs/monies (e.g. Medicare).

As much as I hate to, reality compels me to agree completely. Once Medicare and Medicaid started, that was it. We will never get government out of healthcare, period. Whatever reforms this bill proposes (I have not read it) it must include top to bottom tort reform with serious consequences for frivolous/fraudulent litigation and absolute caps on monetary awards.

Doesn’t matter; the Senate now is a rubber stamp for Valerie’s judges, so any Republican plan that miraculously gets passed will be ruled unconstitutional.

The Republican "alternative to ObamaCare" plan must begin with massive tort reform plus significant elimination of most of the massive overhead-skyrocketing-middle-men-pencil-pushers currently interposed between the doctor/patient relationship (i.e., address the parasite industries sucking on the healthcare system) to address the problems with the cost of healthcare.
In short, return to free market principles.

...getting government out of health care decisions.

Aw, shucks, does that mean we can't have death panels?

Obamacare Lite is any Insurance Bill that any Republican can dream up.

We voted down Romneycare in 2012.

In 2013 Obamacare is a disastrous failure.

Now RINOs are proving that they are incapable of learning from the lessons of History.

WE DO NOT WANT GOVERNMENT RUN INSURANCE !

“lower priced healthcare that offers more, and doesn’t require me to become a ward of the federal government, like Obamacare does.”

Very sad story on Fox last night (Megyn’s show, I think). A woman’s insurance (which she loved) was cancelled. She looked at her options on the Lucifercare website. Before she made a decision, she was told “Congratulations!” and discovered she was on Medicaid and there was no way to reverse it. She’s an independent person, with low income, and is humiliated to be on the dole now.

Is it still mandatory participation in the republican proposal?

Your points are spot on. But both parties are going to have to be involved in any healthcare reform. One party acting without input from the other party is a recipe for disaster, IMO

“Haven’t we learned anything from obamacare? Keep Washington out of it.”

Unfortunately in Washington’s mind they have to pass a law to do that. They “are” after all the all mightily dictators of all laws both foreign and domestic much as their constitution is a ‘discarded relic’ of more lawful times.
