Few things in life are as benign as a home vegetable garden.
Here's what happened to Hermine Ricketts and her husband, Tom Carroll. For the past 17 years they

OUTLAWS: A Miami Shores couple was forced to uproot their garden of 17 years to comply with a new city ordinance.
When a single person is singled out, call it prohibited bill of attainder.
Reminds me of obamacare. People work hard and have a front yard that looks nice and is the way they want it. Then the gov’t comes in and tears it up leaving a muddy mess. No doubt fines will be coming if they don’t fix the muddy mess.
It’s all about control!
Between the Home Owner Associations and these ‘village’ governments it’s a nut house to live in if you want to vary at all from the ‘cookie-cutter’ lifestyle they want you to live.
And I do have to say that with the influx of Yankee retirees there it’s only gotten worse.
There was one of these little village governments near where I used to live at that had two entrances to the main public roads and at one time installed those automated gates that use a card reader to let you through.
That little idea was paid for by a local ‘liberal’ columnist to the local newspaper. It turned out though that the village couldn’t block off taxpayer paid for streets and they had to remove them. This is also the same village that had ordinances for leaves on your roof, ie. NO LEAVES from the mandated trees you had to have in your yard to maintain the ‘character’ of the village.
Man... I am so glad to be out of there.
Ex post facto...
Looks like my yard..................
The unkempt look of houses in minority neighborhoods is ok though
Like your insurance plan wasn't "good enough" to meet "new liberal standards;" rip it up, tear it out and throw it away because it's not GOOD ENOUGH for liberals!
This kind of stuff going on around our country is evil in its intent and will destroy our country!
A neighborhood where I once lived had a homes association member who attempted to steamroll the board to "establish standards of 'appropriate plants' to grace front, side or back yards that were or could be considered 'offensive' to the board and/or neighbors."
Some neighbor had planted some sunflowers and the board member thought they "looked terrible whenever he drove down his street."
Today, however, they might be mandatory to "save the earth!"
When I was a kid our front yard had 2 parts divided by a long concrete walk in tghe middle from the front gate up to the front steps...
One side was a pristeen well kept lawn...
the other side was completely covored in potatoes, every year...
:)
plus at the sides of the house and the back were other vegetables..
Ping.
Back when we lived in California hubby had a job to do in Gold River, a HOA neighborhood in Rancho Cordova near Sacramento. He parked his truck on the street and went to work and about 30 minutes later the alarm went off because the HOA security guard was trying to have the truck towed because their rules didn’t allow work trucks to park on a public street.
Hubby called the Sheriff’s department and the deputy who responded was a friend of his from the Marines. The tow truck driver was let go but the security guard was arrested for attempted car theft because the HOA rules did not apply on public streets.
I’d NEVER live in such a place where the local busybodies could dictate everything to everyone! And anyone who chooses to live under a dictator deserves what they get.
That must be an after photo because all I see are fruit trees and flowers. (They removed the veg garden)
Never underestimate the state of Florida to be complete retards. To this day I will not step foot in the state.
Miami Shores has been around for a long time and they've always been strict with a lot of rules. It's necessary when you're surrounded by third world filth. My guess is the majority of people who live there like it that way.
Well, I do not know. I am thinking this is the before picture.
The problem I have is they have been tending this garden for 17 years. Then all of a sudden the village want to regulate what can be grown there, probably to spite them.
We don’t know what all the facts are. Instigators like Fox News like to tell people just enough to get them agitated.
