They were the towheaded sisters who tagged along on campaigns, polite and smiling, as their father rose through Wyoming and then Washington politics to become one of the most powerful men in the country.
We were as close as sisters can be, recalled Mary Cheney of her relationship with her older sister, Liz.
But now, a feud between the two has spilled into public view, involving social media, an angry same-sex spouse, a high-profile election and a father who feels uncomfortably caught between his two children.

I miss the closet thing. People should not be proud of their vile little choice, but be allowed to do it in the privacy of their homes without fear of arrest or violence.
What’s happening today is the Saul Alinsky plan to destroy America from within.
Until then, Enzi should do. Enzi voted with Cruz and against McConnell when it counted.
This is the Times trying to cause some BS in the Wy senate race. I think the Cheney family has been aware of their “disputes” on this subject for quite awhile. I believe his excellency said he was against fagdom before he said he was in favor of it. Did you see any blather of it in the Times???
The problem with Enzi is his voting record, in the 70’s and going down. Unfortunately, his opponent would probably be worse, so Enzi will get reelected and then continue in the direction of a Thad Cochran, a Richard Lugar, a John Warner.
Enzi (WY) - 08/19/14 - 76% (Average) - 74% (Heritage) - 71% (CFG) - 82% (FreedomWorks)
In an interview with Mike Wallace, Liz said that she and her sister disagree on the issue of gay marriage but that there is no rancor in the family about it.
Just keep the devil you know. This can’t be good for the good folks in Wyoming but they will get to decide it. My opinion? If I was a resident there I wouldn’t want to know these things or wonder if my Senator would “evolve” on the issue that I based my vote on. We don’t need any more squishes in congress
I don't get the impression that she waffles.
She's been pretty unambiguous in her conservative positions for years.
Unfortunately in the meantime many young people are being caught up in this lifestyle choice, as a form of rebellion or an attempt to create an identity for themselves apart from the mainstream.
There will be many victims, destroyed lives and unhappy people who turn to homosexuality as a means of appearing cool and counter-cultured.
The inevitable mainstreaming of this de-humanizing lifestyle choice will eventually mean that it will loose its popularity as a way of being “different.”
Only because Liz Cheney is in the race!
Then let her work her way up and prove herself in state government before getting into a Federal office.
It’s Kabuki theater, IMHO.
What impact does this “attack” really have other than to raise Liz’s profile as a Conservative in a Conservative state where she’s primarying an “acceptable” Conservative?
All planned and coordinated, I think.
Enzi has been there too long, but it would be better to have a native challenge him than someone who "lives" in Teton County (went for 0bama).
Can’t have it. Can’t let these people breed and raise kids as if they were normL. It will destroy our western culture and create a vacuum that will be filled by sharia law or some such 5th century nonsense.
Let them cavort in private but legitimizing it will destroy our society.
Or by actually living among her future constituents for a while before running for office and claiming she knows what's good for them. She was not born in Wyoming, never really lived in Wyoming before she decided to run for the Senate, and then settled down in Jackson Hole, with neighbors about as far from average people as you can get.
Agreed!
I too do not live in Wyoming. As an an outsider I have been dismayed at the direction that State seems to have taken for the past decade or so.I don’t know how much of that to blame on Enzi Nor how much positive change Cheny could affect. I think she is beguiling when she finds no problem reconciling her position on same sex unions.(I refuse to recognize such as “marriage” My problem is the piece seems to advance the gay agenda by favoring the position of the Reprobates.Marriage has until lately been a States right issue. DOMA was passed to affirm States Rights. Christmas is a Holiday associated with the birth of Christ. Nowhere in the Sacred Writ: does Christ— or any other, advocate for the fraud of same sex “marriage” .IT is “fornication” it is an “abomination unto the Lord ,and Worthy of Death. No doubt the Cheny sisters love each other even as I love my only son.But I have No respect for any who would compromise the Law dictated by God,Himself to accommodate Sin.

I respectfully disagree. Mary is dead set and intransigent in her positions as are all homosexuals. The bond between these two sisters is a powerful one and Liz will cave in time. She probably already has internally. If Dick caved to hold on to his daughter Mary’s love, Liz will.
Bingo. Enzi is a political operator, he veers right for elections. Remember that internet tax BS? However, I would prefer him to a wild card like Cheney who might betray us in a heartbeat.
We’ll get Enzi next time if he doesn’t retire. Leave him be for now.
