The left planted its flag atop the educational establishment long ago. If we are to hope for better schools and smarter kids, that dominance must be overturned, Dr Kevin Donnelly writes at Quadrant Online.
Forget the cultural-left bias and PC group mentality of the Australian Broadcasting Commission, when it comes to a pervasive ideological commitment to the left nothing beats Australias education establishment.
Dr Donnelly says the arrival of the Abbott Government immediately started the alarm bells ringing inside the system.
There is nothing surprising or new about such outbursts. Australias educationalists, along with those in other English-speaking nations, embarked on the cultural lefts long march through schools and universities during the late 60s and early 70s.
Elimination of Common Core is or course a good thing, and privatization/choice will help alleviate this problem.
But the left MUST not be allowed to dominate the classroom or we will continue to have "low-information" drones rather than thinking informed responsible citizens..
Collectivism at all levels must be rejected by the majority of society.
Last year less than half the people who voted for Romney could be bothered to vote in the races for university administration or state level educational seats in Michigan. Almost every one of those races went to hard left unionistas.
That’s like trying to fight the nazis while leaving factories and military bases untouched.
In Michigan, if you vote straight ticket it leaves races with more than one republican on the ballot empty. You can vote straight ticket and vote in those individual races so I encourage people to seek them out even if they vote straight ticket.
Always remember that the enemy doesn’t skip a single race and any race we don’t fight is a race we give to them for free.

There’s another kind of “colonisation” that the Leftist culture has been trying to normalize ...
The Great Withdrawal: How the Progressives’ 100-Year Debasement of America and the Dollar Ends
Detroit was to be a workers’ paradise, a symbol of progressive success. Instead, it has become a symbol of big government failure, corruption, violence, and decay. In 2013, after a great withdrawal of more than a million productive residents, once-great Detroit became the largest American city ever to declare bankruptcy. The Great Withdrawal explores why Detroit failed, why other liberal cities may soon follow, and how this could drag America into insolvency and prolonged depression. It explores the bizarre Nanny Statist Progressive movement that took power in America in 1913 and has driven America on a 100-Year detour away from the ideals of our nation’s founders and toward the stagnation of Euro-socialist welfare states. Smith and Ponte, in this their fourth book, look at how Progressivism has used addiction to welfare and easy money, as well as psychological manipulation politics from “crisis-ocracy” and “the herd inside our heads” to the sinister brain science techniques known as “nudge” to win elections, manufacture consent, impose invisible taxes, and control us.

It’s easy.
Liberals currently control the entire education system top to bottom, via “tenure”.
Get rid of it. Completely.
No tenure for anyone. Ever.
You will see an immediate return, to true quality education.
Poppycock. The first thing they would do is to rid themselves of those annoying conservative professors. Without ridding ourselves of accreditation and state licensure, the educational product will inevitably reflect the common culture of the university.
I strongly disagree.
There are very few conservative professors.
We need to eliminate Tenure.
Purge the (many) barely functional teachers from classrooms coast to coast.
And hire new ones.
No more fooling around. Dump Tenure.
I understand you do not agree, but I think our education system is completely screwed up.
We need to purge and start over.
So, as per your link, how do we reboot America’s operating system?
I don't think it's possible without using the methods Mao used in China.
That would be having the "education" professors and "teachers" carrying night soil.
Other than that, homeschooling is the only way out, then a technical school after.
We homeschooled using books mostly from the early to mid 1800s.
That is an excellent, excellent question. It is one I don’t think gets asked enough here on FR.
It takes prayer, education, and doing.
It all starts with prayer. Even if you don’t believe in God just do it anyway because it works. Turn off your TV and just do it. What to pray for? That our country walk away from collectivism by returning to ethical monotheism. If you have a self governing people guided by their everyday lives to live ethical and moral lives it takes away pretty much every excuse the collectivists use to gain more.
Education is the second extremely important part of the equation. Did you know that Thanksgiving is the celebration of the repudiation of collectivism? Have you told your children that? Your friends and family? Did you know that collectivism was reintroduced to America in 1826 by British industrialist, Robert Owen? That his followers were called Owenites? Do your children know? Your family and friends?
The third is the doing part. Have as many children as you can afford, home school them, and mold them into leaders who will take on the collectivists.
Of course...
But in doing that, you must realize you are inviting the “Separation of Church and State” idiots to step in a sue that process...
They do not want God to fix this, it would invalidate their claim on this territory, and mustering their old war cry is the first step in keeping this effort on its heels, without much footing...
By all means, hand this over to God though...And keep home schooling as many kids as possible...Understand that in my experience, some of those kids become fairly introverted, and will be exposed at some critical point to the nonsense that doesn’t compute with their logic based education...And therefore will be easy pickings in higher levels of education...
But that is a risk you have to accept, and take if this is to succeed...And it is not going to happen overnight...Not by a longshot...It may very well take a few generations, as the opposition has had many years and generations to seed and feed their efforts, almost un-opposed...
Eliminating tenure is a laudible effort as well, good luck with that...Getting conservatives into the school boards in both rural and urban areas is an effort, that over time as well may make the environment more feasable for the other things to take place...
But always keepin mind, that redundancy, legacy and continuity is key to succeeding over time...Sure, we can get some results in short order, but remember, this is going to take a long time to restore...And you, I and many reading this will be long gone from these mortal coils before it reverses itself...We need to accept that, and create the conditions that foment the future, and those that take up the torch, do the same thing, because it may not happen on their watch either...They need to understand the long term needs to maintain and create the legacy as well...
What I say is probably not all that new to some, and this template is actually applicablr to many entrenched liberal/socialist “skin tags” that will take some time to get rid of...
And its not going to be attractive, or easy to accomplish by any means...
Just my opinion...
Who are the “separation of church and state” idiots going to sue and how are they if this is done starting in the home?
Well, it won’t start in the “home”, it will continue to be conducted in the public school system...They will sue the districts, or at least the threat of a lawsuit will put the issue to bed...
“They” being the ACLU backed special interests groups (athiests, socialists, Darwinians etc etc etc) who will use them to “mule” this effort...Thats who I believe are the usual suspects...Not a big revelation...
Ohhh, shoot...I said “revelation”, crap, now I’m gonna get sued...
Know any good lawyers...Dangit!!! Another slip of the tongue...Is there such a thing as a “good lawyer”??? hehe
Like Jack said...I agree with his overall premis...
It’ll take a re-boot, but you still have to reformat the hard drive...Sounds easy, but all those viruses are deep in the FAT...
To put it in rudimentary confuser terms...
What I am trying to say is that societal change starts in the home. How you raise your children has a significant effect on society at large.
Home schooling is legal in the USA but regulations on it vary from State to State. And the collectivists never stop at either creating more regulation or trying to outlaw it altogether.
If conservative parents want to go the route of having their children attend government schools it has to be they who infiltrate the school boards, approve what texts are allowed, and set policy. Then they’ll have fun with the ACLU and other assorted collectivists.
