A Virginia State football player faces assault charges after a bathroom fight left Winston-Salem State's starting quarterback badly beaten during a luncheon for both teams on the eve of their championship game.
Both Division II schools say the CIAA canceled the title game set for Saturday in Winston-Salem.

The Winston-Salem Journal, citing multiple anonymous sources, reported that five Virginia State players were involved. Reaves said police were trying to identify the other Virginia State players.

reading between the lines, I sense the game was canceled to prevent further mishap from the misguided yoots.
When I was in high school, the coach (a science teacher) was a Grade A$$hole with a forever-losing team.
He never saw that connection.
Once he gave a halftime ‘pep’ talk berating the players. As a group they rose up and attacked him. He was lucky to escape with his life.
these are college “men”????
It looks like both are black. What in the hell is going ON in this country?????????? When did sports stop being sports and become a haven for thugs? I don’t watch any of it anymore.
I believe both schools are black colleges.
Winston-Salem and Virginia State fit into the “historically black college” classification....if there are any white dudes on the team its by mistake...
Well, it was a luncheon. These sorts of things happen.
A little fight in the restroom? What are we turning into, a nation of pussies? Granted my HS coaches ... didn’t play in football in college ... would have discouraged this, but at practice we would be taught that an integral part of playing defensive line was not to hold and to punch them in the face.
