Orangeburg attorney and U.S. Army veteran Bill Connor who lost the 2010 Republican runoff for lieutenant governor to Ken Ard has filed to run against U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham in next Junes Republican primary, according to federal election documents.
Connor did not return requests for comment Friday. However, he filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission Tuesday, indicating he plans to run.
Connor is the fourth Republican to oppose Graham in the primary, joining state Sen. Lee Bright of Spartanburg, Easley businessman Richard Cash and Charleston public-relations executive Nancy Mace.
Unlike Bright, Cash and Mace, Connor has run a statewide campaign before, raising more than $600,000 for his bid to win the GOP nomination for lieutenant governor, according to finance records with the S.C. Election Commission.

In an August interview with Joshua Cook, writing for the conservative blog Ben Swann, Connor said he considers himself a political outsider, having never held public office or worked as a political consultant like others vying for the GOP Senate nomination.
Connor said he was a conservative who just wants to defend the Constitution in a different manner than he did as an infantry officer, deployed overseas.

wrong, wrong, wrong. one opponent. one.
Why isn’t Linda on the stump with McConnell crowing about kicking the Tea Party’s butt?
This is a good thing. Get Linda into a run-off.
Hmmmm, looks to me like Linda Grahamnesty and the rest of the GOP-e has recruited a mainstream alternate to Tea Party favorite Lee Bright. It’s not going to work, Linda.
Are the DemoRats goibg to split the vote again by getting a RINO to run to ensure Linda win? Maybe the Republican Party should get some Dems to run...lol
No. If we had one opponent, we’d lose. We need several. The goal is to keep Linda under 50%.
If he is forced into a run-off, he’s finished.
Yup. If these up-starts don’t toe/tow the party “gop-E” line, rinse prebus(sic) and co. won’t help them a bit. Maybe they’ll even support libertarians to help defeat them.
Don't want a repeat of what just happened in the VA governor's race.
In the SC Republican Senate primary, if one candidate doesn’t get a simple majority of the vote the top two vote recipients go into a runoff. More candidates means more choices for the anti-Linda voters, which increases the chances of a runoff.
What will Linda do if he loses? He already knows how to be a prostitute. Are gay brothels legal in SC?
Not sure how you’re tying the Sarvis debacle into this ..
How many candidates is the GOPe funding? Sounds like they are taking a page right out of the Dem playbook.
Too bad they do not do this during the regular elections to help defeat the Dems raher than using it internally to keep their base on the plantation.
Not a bad idea really, someone with Linda's platform but a more appealing candidate.
people aren’t thinking this through.
there is no difference between a one-on-one runoff, and an initial field of two. you’re ignoring the likely possibility that multiple candidates will split the anti-graham vote.
There are people that claim the more opponents Linda has the better. There are others that claim it would be better if she had fewer opponents.
Whichever way it works out it would be best if everyone knew which groups were funding which candidates.
There is a difference—only the most motivated show up for the run-off election. Finishing a reasonably close second to an incumbent in the first round is usually enough to mean beating him in the second—no one who chose not to vote for the incumbent in the first will make an effort to come out and vote for him in the second. The shotgun approach is effective when runoffs are provided for.
No. No. NO. South Carolina has a runoff election if Lindsey Graham doesn’t break 50%. The more the merrier! Anything that can keep Ms. Graham from hitting 50% is a good thing.
