Time to cancel your subscriptions, Guns and Ammo Editor Dick Metcalf has penned an editorial for their December issue that will be leaving fans in shock; hes supporting gun control. Metcalf claims there is a large difference between regulation, (well-regulated militia) and a direct infringement of civil rights, he has made this distinction the premise of his claims.
I bring this up, he wrote, because way too many gun owners still believe that any regulation of the right to keep and bear arms is an infringement. The fact is that all Constitutional rights are regulated, always have been, and need to be. Facepalm moment anyone? Now that Metcalf is no longer in a fit mental capacity to be left alone, someone should send Adult Protective services over for a welfare check.
Many argue that any regulation at all is, by definition, an infringement. If that were true, then the authors of the Second Amendment themselves, should not have specified well-regulated.

At the time the Second Amendment was penned,
there were no government regulations or laws or restrictions concerning how a person’s gun worked, or mandating it had anything, or couldn’t have anything, attached to it, enhancing it, making it more accurate, more lethal, or more silent, or able to be reloaded faster, or ANYTHING of the sort.
The guns the people had were in the same class of weapon the regular British troops had.
I don’t have a subscription but I am sure as hell never going to start one.
I hope gun owners don’t confuse purchasing Guns and Ammo with buying the myriad of other gun magazines.
Yes, well-regulated in the context means WELL TRAINED. Not that their actual firearms were regulated.
If that were the case we’d have seen a reference to this in their Federalist Papers or someone’s recorded speeches. IT IS NEVER MENTIONED in the context of determining acceptable firearm characteristics, it is ALWAYS mention in terms of a trained and able militia in case they need to assemble and deal with a threat.
When it comes to gun control, gun owners must hang together or they will hang separately. Metcalf has chosen to hang separately.
I hope gun owners don’t confuse purchasing Guns and Ammo with buying the myriad of other gun magazines.
Frankly if this represents the thought of the magazine, one can only guess what other information they are getting wrong.
Here’s the story.
How Gun Maker Smith & Wesson Almost Went Out Of Business When It Accepted Gun Control
That is about the era I was reading it in as well and stopped when they left. Have not read a copy in decades. The covers are usually over the top from what I see. They are after a different audience now.
I subscribed to Guns and Ammo in the 60s and 70s then let it go until maybe 5 years ago when I re-subscribed. My subscription ends July 2015 or was at least scheduled to end then. I will cancel it Monday.
I will say I was getting a little tired of nothing but $3000.00 1911s, and $3500.00 ARs being the only thing they tested.
After the avalanche of subscription cancellations and (probably) class action suit by subscribers, his jackass needs to be fired and sued for violating his fiduciary responsibilities, fraud, and anything else that will stick. Thanks BulletBobCo.
Sorry Dick, in the era of Obama and Company, we will continue to oppose any and all measures to infringe on our second amendment rights. the leftists have proven their ill intents repeatedly. As such, not an inch of ground will be given to them. They’re going to have to fight tooth and nail for any gains they may or may not make. And while they fight to weaken the second amendment, we will fight to strengthen it and when the dust has settled, you won’t be able to walk down an American street without tripping over an assault rifle.

“Metcalf him!” - bad guy in The Tick live action TV show.
I canceled my subscription today and let them know the Metcalf editorial was the reason.
People say what is the big deal.....it’s just one guy. Well, that one guy wrote the article, but it had to make it past several other people before getting published, none of which hold the 2A in high regard.
Screw them I am done with them.
I will admit I picked up one recently (before this mess) and the only article I enjoyed was Garry James writing about some antique military weapons.
Everyone else is a hack, and Boddington only seems interested in leveraging his “reputation” into getting free hunts.
Feel free to unload on them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GunsAndAmmoMag
Very likely. The magazine has to pay the price now.
A career ending move if I ever saw one.
