Dog saved lives and could hear Luftwaffe planes before they arrived

Read it and weep.
Thanks, Scotsman.
A great story, even if it made me cry.

I love German Shepherds.
Woshay is lying behind me right now. :)

Beautiful long coat! I know Teresa has lines related to some of mine, so perhaps your dog could be related. Here is one of my dogs, Ash -

Ash is gorgeous! I've seen pictures of him before when online looking for more German Shepherds It's a pleasure to see the connection here on Free Republic! Here's another of Woshay:
Great to connect with another longcoat enthusiast!
When the Man waked up he said,
'What is Wild Dog doing here?'
And the Woman said,
'His name is not Wild Dog any more,
but the First Friend,
because he will be our friend
for always and always and always.'

Thank you, and of course as I said your Woshay is beautiful as well! You know, it’s funny...a LOT of times people who call me for pups tend to be like-minded individuals, though I definitely don’t bring up politics first. My husband thinks that liberals tend not to like large dogs like this because they require WORK, lol.

I’ve noticed that GSD breeders tend to be conservative. I agree that WORK is a large part of it, as is reality... you can’t manage a pack of carnivorous predators with nothing more than ideology. Takes actual effort and knowing what you’re doing. :)

Treating any dog like that, let alone a GSD, is horrible. I hope the individuals that GSROC got these dogs from, were prosecuted.
They give us everything, they are owed excellent care!

I can't say I know that all breeders are conservative, BUT...there are issues that they definitely would lean conservative on. I'll give you an example, and a lot of people do not know what's going to happen because there was minimal media coverage, and as we all know about the media, it is biased.
The USDA updated regulations to the Animal Welfare Act, they are redefining what a "retail pet store is". These rules take effect starting on November 17, it was placed in the Federal Register on September 18 of this year. The gist of it is that if you have over 4 intact females (of various species, not just dogs but cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, etc.) and ship at least one animal "sight unseen" as a pet you are to be USDA inspected and regulated. I have never shipped a pup, but wanted to keep the option open, however I just put a notice on my website that due to this I will not keep this option open, but as always welcome people to my home or have met people a few hours away to help with driving. There are already GOOD breeders going out of business due to this because, unlike myself, they may need to ship a few puppies out of every litter due to their location, their breed, whatever. What's funny though is in some of the Facebook groups I've seen dedicated to this, more than one breeder who was for gun control was against this happening...they don't understand how similar these things are.
