Too many people are taught to extend both hands to aim handgun. Problem is attacker may be able to grab gun. People need to learn to shoot with weapon closer to body. Close combat where an attacker lunges at you, gun is actually aimed from hip waistline with one hand and the other is to protect face and head as intruder is kept from firing hand and protect the area as attacker punches and pummels defenders face and head.
She should have fired sooner. Hesitation is always the problem (the old pun being He who has a Tate’s is lost...)
EXACTLY! That’s why introducing a gun into a situation is a two step process. You pull the gun and immediately pull the trigger. Waving a gun at a perp will only get you killed.
Amen, brother.
Yep. If you are not going to fire don’t pull out a weapon.
Maybe she left it over the door, along with the spare key.
Exactly. If you have a pistol deployed against a threat, close quarters combat technique say cock that arm and keep pistol against the rib cage, pointed at assailant. Never use that Weaver stance unless you are shooting at a distant target. Which one should not be doing in a home defense situation most times.
..obviously she should have shot but I can tell you I have not shot my weapon though pulled a number of times and it saved my ass without the headache of justifiable use of deadly force etc...
It’s called judgment..reason
This notion if you pull it you shoot is nonsense
but I see your point was a bit different...so I’m not aiming at you..( sig slip..lol)
but so many folks say don’t point your gun till you are going to pull the trigger...I have pointed and resisted several times and the threat saw better of it
i tell my wife...her being only 5 foot and 100 pounds..to shoot the whole mag...
i’m twice her size and then some and have a lot more real time experience with violence
She was probably reluctant to injure (or kill) the perp. As a consequence, she gets injured by the perp.
I’m guessing statistics say it’s best to terminate in defense without hesitation by any available means.
I have a couple of female friends who have said they could never shoot anyone under any circumstances. I advised them to get a broken gun and keep it handy. Since most confrontations are ended by presenting a weapon the odds are with them.
However, if they are disarmed they won't be shot with that gun. Nor will anyone else.
Any intruder who tries to take your gun from you should do it through a wall of lead and get what amounts to nothing but a club from you if he succeeds.
Ladies, it couldn’t hurt to print this article out and keep on hand.
Either be prepared to pull the trigger or don’t pull the gun.
Poor woman. On the upside we rarely hear this type of story any more.
