HILLVIEW, KY (WAVE) A woman trying to defend herself from a man attempting to break into her home was shot with her own gun early Monday morning, according to detectives.
Emergency dispatch personnel said a man attempted to break into a home just before 4 a.m. in Hillview, Kentucky on Smith Lane near Hillview Boulevard on the county line between Bullitt County and Jefferson County.
According to the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), the man did not get into the house. A woman who lived there aimed a gun at the would-be intruder, but according to detectives, the man was able to take control of the firearm.

I believe this is the first time I have seen two of these in one year. The intruder must have been very close to take the gun. Did the woman leave the house and go outside, or did the intruder stick his arm inside?

If you pull a gun, you shoot. If you’re not going to shoot, don’t pull a gun.

She thought the threat of force was sufficient.
If you’re not willing to shoot, don’t load the weapon!

Well it's evident that if she didn't have a handgun in her house then the intruder couldn't have shot her with it........../s

She probably didn’t have the fortitude to shoot the man. If you don’t have what it takes do not point a gun at anyone. Never threaten anyone if you aren’t willing to carry out the threat!

I’m guessing she hesitated. She had second thoughts about shooting. The perp probably begged her not to shoot.
Don’t wanna blame the victim here, Not enough facts on hand. But this much is clear. There was an intruder - she had the gun - and she got shot.
Draw your own conclusions.

She must have been hesitant to shoot or the perp had really quick reflexes.

A woman trying to defend herself from a man attempting to break into her home was shot with her own gun early Monday morning, according to detectives. Well, I guess I should just get rid of all my guns....I might get shot.
Could it be she balked? Waited to long to take action?
Note to homeowner.....if someone breaks into your house in the middle of the night, they're probably not there to make you breakfast. Just say'n.

Shoot first, and wave a gun to frighten them off last, when it is empty.

That is the moral of this story.
You had better be mentally prepared and willing to kill someone if you draw your weapon. You simply cannot equivocate.

I was taught if you point a gun at a threat, you follow up immediately by cocking and shooting it-and repeat steps two and three until the threat no longer is-if you even think you can’t do that, then don’t pick up a gun.

“Hesitation kills.”
which is exactly what Minority Advocacy Groups and the Dept. of Justice want.
Think “Zimmerman” everytime you pull a gun on “other than whites”.
