Senate GOP blocks key Obama judge, signals renewed fight over court nominees
The Washington Times ^ | October 31, 2013 | Stephen Dinan

Senate Republicans on Thursday filibustered one of President Obama’s nominees to sit on the federal appeals court in Washington, arguing that while the woman is well-qualified, confirming her would allow Democrats to shift the political balance to the left on the country's second-most important court.

The vote was the latest skirmish in the fierce, though usually hidden, battle over federal judgeships, which are increasingly becoming a part of the political spoils system.

Republicans accused Democrats of trying to pack the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals by adding Patricia Millett to the bench, saying Mr. Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are still smarting from several rebukes the court has dealt to their agenda, including a high-profile decision ruling the president’s recess appointments unconstitutional.

The D.C. appeals court hears many of the key appeals from federal regulatory agencies, which is why it is regularly called the second-most important court in the country, behind the Supreme Court.

“They think they can shift the balance there and be able to advance their agenda throughout the judicial process,” said Sen. Jeff Sessions, an Alabama Republican who himself was an early casualty of the judicial wars when Democrats blocked his nomination to a federal judgeship in 1986.

Democrats — and Mr. Reid in particular — have been open about their desire to flip the court to a more liberal ideological slant. Over the summer, in an interview with NPR, the Nevada Democrat said he was furious at the judges who ruled against Mr. Obama’s recess appointment, calling the three judges “terrible.”

Now watch the left/MSM go bonkers over the GOP doing to the Democrats exactly what they did to us when Bush 43, 41, and Reagan were President.

Also watch our side cave and give away their advantage.

Games.

They approved Richard Griffin for General Counsel of the NLRB on Tuesday. Now the NLRB is packed with union goons.

Thanks to Roy Blunt and the other traitor Republican senators, card check/mandatory union membership is coming.

The GOP Senators are just there to be part of the club.

I see the Rats are talking changing the filibuster rule again.

I wonder if Dingy Harry really would do that due to the possibility they could lose the majority next year, I hope he’s squirming.

Here we go again with Obama and the Senate Democrats attempting to usurp power and pack a federal court with liberal judges. Their obstruction of our judiciary will tilt our entire system to the Marxist left.

While I have little hope, I pray that our Senate Republicans stop Obama’s unconstitutional ploy to pack the court.

Obama appointed Richard Cordray and others to Lizzy Warren's Consumer Finance Protection, and the NLRB without senate consent.

I hope Obama does the same with Millet.

Yes, I want a showdown.

Two Republicans joined Democrats in backing Ms. Millett: Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. Friends of Obama, traitors within our ranks.

It’s not caving when they purchase your vote. Just ask McConnell. Establishment Republicans are greed-heads first and the Democrats know that. Push a bit of pork at them and they settle down like the lap-dogs they are.

Establishment Republicans creep me out

Yeah, that’ll be the day.

They’re way too liberal for McQueeg to call them Wacko Birds, besides that he wouldn’t want to hurt the poor dears feelings.

This is a very, very, VERY lengthy essay on Obama. That said, if you REALLY want to understand what we’re dealing with, you REALLY need to read this one.
It helps explain why this sociopath does what he does. It begs the question does he appoint OTHER nut cases to offices?

Speaking of Obama’s illegal NLRB appointees, has there been a ruling on the illegitimacy of its subsequent rulings?

Not that I’ve read but there should be. I’d guess the packed board would just go through the motions now and do it again but it’d probably make a difference to a lot of companies on previous actions.
