Do they belong in America, or are they squatters who have broken our immigration laws? New York has one of the most comfy “safety nets”, due to Liberals running everything. “ If they build it, they will come”, turning the safety nets into hammocks.

I recently had some work done on my pickup - the garage I used happens to be located a block from the local food shelf in my town. As I drove past it, I couldn’t help being disgusted by the sight of a “kankle” lady loading bags of free stuff into her vehicle... while inhaling a heater. What have we come to as a society when folks choose to raid a hand-out location for free food while maintaining a $300+ per month discretionary (and harmful) spending habit?? How can someone accept free food that will feed themselves and their dependents while making such a selfish personal choice? It blows my mind.

Good thing you didn’t see the crack pipe, iPhone 5 and gold grill then, huh?

"starving"

A few years ago my hometown rag did a front page story about supposed problems with the local food pantry. And they highlighted the story of one particular woman who according to the story was suffering from "food insecurity." You should have seen the photo of the woman. They probably had to butter her up good to squeeze her through the door to the pantry. She looked liked she hadn't missed any meals for quite some time.

they represent the millions of Americans who fell victim to food insecurity when the Great Recession hit in 2009, but didn’t benefit from the economic recovery.

That's because the "recovery" has been nothing more than an MSM construct.

How do "starving" people live in one of the world's most expensive cities?

If you read sociological "studies", it's because the cities are where the money is. In reality, they live in small, substandard apartments in horrid neighborhoods, and often, more people live in an apartment than allowed by safety codes. Also, since they live within walking distances of the places they need to go, they do not have to have the expense of a car.

"How do "starving" people live in one of the world's most expensive cities?"

Indeed - with most sporting thousands of dollars in tatoos.
With newer TVs and cell-phones than I have.
Feeding their kids hundreds of dollars' worth of (dubiously nutricious) fast-food.
Young, healthy men not holding down jobs, hanging out all day as we drive into work....

A 5% cut should mean a shift to less prepared food or cutting back junk food. It isn’t as if they are saying “no more food for you”.

Are people “prepping” in their own way? Sorry to admit this, the thought had crossed my mind once or twice to go to the local food shelf and get some canned goods.

regarding repeal, the current law to increase food stamps during the unemployment crisis expires tonight.

Some currently receiving the benefits on their plastic will not get them in the future.

That is unless Obama issues an executive order extending them contrary to the will of his democrat congress.

A larger cut than 5% could be made just by cutting down on the fraud. Only the fraudsters would be affected.

On my Rush station there are PSA's from some outfit called feeding America. In one of them, this woman says she has 2 jobs and her husband works too. She lives right next door, sits by you at PTA meetings and her kids play with your kids. But there kis one thing you don't know about her. She is one of the ONE IN SIX Americans suffering from hunger and trying to pay their bills and eat. She says in the land of milk and honey there is enough food to feed everyone.

If they have three jobs between them, I would think they could do without their cable TV, their cell phones. etc to buy food. Because of this stupid ad, I am reluctant to donate to food banks.

I think a large part of the problem is that people do not know how to cook from scratch anymore. Their regular food items are highly processed foods that usually are more expensive than staple items. Food prices have gone up significantly over the last couple of years. If people are on a very, very tight budget, it is not surprising that they are struggling to afford their regular diet. The added downside to a high carbohydrate diet, which is what most people eat, is that you are hungry all the time due to high blood sugar and vitamin deficiencies.

Actually, those fat people are indeed “starving” - nutritionally.

But, giving them more money to buy nutrient divested, GMO, HFCS laden crap isn’t going to solve that.

Around here the thing to do is show up at a food bank, get your supplies for the week and then sell the remaining budget on the EBT card for cash to buy cigs/booze/lottery tickets.

Address the fraud and you’d have PLENTY to feed the truly needy.

But, fraud is one of the goals of this wealth transfer system set up by the left.

This is the plan. 4.5 years down the road and no new jobs. Even a total incompetent could figure out how to create a few jobs. Its all on purpose folks. Chaos is the objective. Out of chaos comes order. The new world order.

Problem is that Obama has ruined this country’s economy.

A 5% cut when there has been a 30+% increase in 5 years will hardly do a thing.

If he Executive orders a spending bill that did not first come through the House I believe he would be breaking the law and his primary obligation to uphold the Constitution.

Can't you just hear Obama screaming “They want to impeach me for feeding the poor”. Would blend quite well in with his god complex IMO.
