A set of health care service categories that must be covered by certain plans, starting in 2014.

The Affordable Care Act ensures health plans offered in the individual and small group markets, both inside and outside of the Health Insurance Marketplace, offer a comprehensive package of items and services, known as essential health benefits. Essential health benefits must include items and services within at least the following 10 categories: ambulatory patient services; emergency services; hospitalization; maternity and newborn care; mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment; prescription drugs; rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices; laboratory services; preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management; and pediatric services, including oral and vision care.

Insurance policies must cover these benefits in order to be certified and offered in the Health Insurance Marketplace. States expanding their Medicaid programs must provide these benefits to people newly eligible for Medicaid.

All of his promises were lies, and they knew it at the time.

Leftists won’t care. They live to lie.

It’s almost as if HHS did this just to make Obama into a liar

Maternity and pediatric when you don’t need it.
I wonder how drivers would like it if the gov’t decided that car insurance should cover a certain amount, whether or not you have had any DUIs and no matter what kind of car you have. Just to make it fair.

My individual policy got cancelled. I was offered a replacement at 4 times the cost in monthly premiums, a deductible exceeding my highest gross income over the last 10 years and a lifetime cap insufficient to deal with a broken limb.

I'm going off-system.

These ones make sense to mandate :’ambulatory patient services; emergency services; hospitalization’
since hospitals or taxpayers or both are forced to pay those bills anyway for most uninsured.

The other mandates are so heavy they sink the ship.

“... prescription drugs; rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices; laboratory services; preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management; and pediatric services, including oral and vision care.”

Medicare doesn’t cover all those things, but medicaid will?

"Rules for Radicals" was the book Alinsky wrote to explain how the far left could destroy the middle class. The Alinsky MO is get power at ANY cost.

His disciples don't care how they get power. Lying is a everyday tactic to achieve their power goals.

The problem is that they started believing their lies and are truly shocked that reality did not conform to the lies.

All policies must have prostate exams, pap smears, abortion, and maternity coverage.

The sheeperals simply fell for the lies that they could feel good about themselves for “helping people get healthcare” and that someone else would pay for it.
