SAVANNAH, GA - A Savannah family is demanding answers from police as to why they shot their beloved dog.
New: (photo) Police detail in a report that six rounds were fired at the dog. Officers claim the animal charged at children and officers.
The pit bull got out of their house Thursday morning on East 71st Street off of DeRenne Avenue. But police and the family disagree on what happened next.
The family says Ziggy was a kind soul to kids and small animals. But police tell a very different story. They say the 100 pound animal was on a vicious rampage through the neighborhood and officers were forced to shoot and kill him.
"He could have been shot once and he would have stopped if he was doing anything, which I highly doubt," said Tyler Braddy.
Braddy and his girl friend own Ziggy the pit bull. They say Ziggy has no history of violence, and can't imagine him ever attacking anyone. Ziggy got out around 7:00 am Thursday morning while they were away. They didn't know he was dead until they got home that night. And they say police won't give them a straight answer as to what happened."I've been given many different stories about the times he's been shot and the different places. I don't even know what to think. It's like they're trying to sweep it under the rug with us," Braddy said.
Savannah Police, however, say Ziggy attacked several people, including two children and two officers. A little before 7:30 am, one of those officers fired at the dog, striking him twice and killing him.

A loud noise would probably have made the dog run away scared

"The dog was shot for his own protection, ma'am."
Yeah, my lab would charge you too - tongue hanging out and tail wagging. She’s clumsy enough to knock you down then paw at you and rub up against you and lean against you ... generally being as annoying as possible until you pet her and scratch her behind the ears and under the collar. If she really likes you she’ll pee on the ground (seen that more than once). Unfortunately, if police ever come to my house she’s likely to get shot for such behavior, and I’ll end up in jail for (at least) assaulting the officer(s) responsible.
Finally a couple of modern malefactors meet: trigger happy cops and pit bulls.
people need secure home recording devices in their homes, and on their yards, to deal wih this crap. lying police officer bastards. they know courts automatically believe them in he-said she-said instances.
Was the dog carrying a toy AK47, by chance?
rofl
NO.
It was just an airsoft replica.
Maybe we should all make our properties Gun Free Zones affecting only the Police. That way our pets will be safe from itchy trigger fingers.
You DO realize killing pets is a conditioning exercise for the peasants, don’t you?
The message is: “Your pets, now. YOU next.”
That montage is tooooo cooool.
I think we’re all coming to that conclusion. Open fire on my dog and I’ll return it.

Hmmm...Which is it? A family or a shack-up couple?
*THAT* is precisely what lead to the Ruby Ridge standoff, as I recall. LEO fired the first shots, killing the Weaver Family dog (with a fully automatic weapon, the kind we *peasants* are prohibited from possessing, no less...)
The LEO actually received medals/commendations for this craven and cowardly act...
