Thousands of Californians are discovering what Obamacare will cost them and many don't like what they see.
These middle-class consumers are staring at hefty increases on their insurance bills as the overhaul remakes the healthcare market. Their rates are rising in large part to help offset the higher costs of covering sicker, poorer people.

Couldn’t happen to a more deserving crowd than CA, where the fruits and nuts couldn’t get enough of BO and would vote for him again, if they could.
Millions of dems are ordering crow with extra peas of course.
They should be proud that their higher premiums are going to pay for the medical treatment of a preventable disease - AIDS.
It’s happening all over, not just in California, When this thing is done they will be hunting down Democrats with tar and feathers.
95% is now defined as “some” by the media? LOL
Good to know our government overseers are here to protect us from our bad choices. Certainly individuals can't be trusted to act in their own best interest.
Lopez says he's willing to absorb that one-year jump if it means the government can rein in future rate hikes. "I'm hoping with this reform," Lopez said, "we won't see big increases year after year."
Good luck with that.
SOME insurance gets higher?! Thats not completely accurate. Almost ALL are and not by a small jump either; try 3 to 4 times. Obamacare will do destruction 3 fold: (1) kill the economy, (2) destroy the quality of healthcare, and (3) empower the government on a level never seen before as it collects personal and financal information on its “citizens” that it can use to control them as it destroys their quality of life by threatening them whether overtly or by implication as needed if the citizen challenges the “system” in any way either by protest / speaking out or exposing them or their corrupion.
Clearly the private sector can't be trusted to administer our nation's healthcare. We're going to have to federalize this industry, for the good of our citizens. And when that rousing success is complete (and the government needs a greater influx of cash) we'll move onto "securing" private retirement funds and pensions. After all, it's too important to be left in the hands of anyone other than trained government experts.
Not all Californians are of the same philosophical disposition. But the countervailing opinions are simply too few and too scattered to effectively shield against the emotional tide that has swept the state, and has boiled over into neighboring states as this brand of madness gets exported and propagated with the emigrants who can no longer stand to live next to the disagreeable results of their own earlier excesses.
Once upon a time, being a hippy or bohemian was just “quaint”, but then they started believing in their own nonsense concocted while under the influence of mind-altering drugs. Logic and rational discussion succumbed to the volume that can be emitted from the most powerful bullhorn. If ever there were a place where people could “define deviancy down”, California certainly filled the vacancy in that slot.
I spent a year out in California in 1973-1974, but I would not recognize the place today. Sacramento has outstripped San Francisco as a hotbed of liberal excesses, if only because that is where the “decision-makers” congregate in greatest number. They feed on each other’s fantasies about what would make an “ideal” place for the free exercise of hedonism and lassitude, and pass legislation accordingly.
Which is a shame. California, of all the states in the nation, was blessed with more natural riches and greater potential than any other state, in climate, geography, and availability of opportunity, the last of which is being crushed at every turn, by taxation, regulation, and a state government that has become a common scold. And a spendthrift to boot, just all the things that lead to divorce if between a heterosexual couple.
But even there, heterosexuality seems to be on the verge of being outlawed in California, as same-sex couples are being granted more and more “rights” they always had, but now are written into law in direct contradiction to much of the moral code this nation lived with for over 200 years.
“Cast Out Your Old Tired Ethics”, or COYOTE, seems to be the new state motto. Quite a fall from the Bear Flag Republic.
Yeah, as well as contraceptives & abortions.
I’m tired of the lie that if you are on an employers policy you aren’t affected! Our plans have to conform to these same standards and we are paying more for lousier coverage like everybody else!
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" - What is the problem, Tovarisch? The party has just started...
I voted for free healthcare and all I got was a lousy death panel?
Way to Go Progressive Democrats, you've Pissed off the Youth!
We knew that Obamacare would result in higher prices before it was even passed. The brain dead Obama supporting media waited until after the 2012 election to start reporting on it.
Very well stated.
I concur. Government is the expert on, well gosh darn, just everything; from running websites to spending money. I mean really, I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than these experts.
There is no breaking point with these people. Utopia is just one year away...I can feel it!
