Club for Growth launches ads for Cochran’s primary challenger (The Fight Is On! Video at link)

The conservative Club for Growth on Monday launched a new ad campaign in support of Sen. Thad Cochran’s (R-Miss.) primary challenger – the latest in a quickly launched campaign against the longtime senator.

The Club and another conservative group, the Senate Conservatives Fund, both endorsed state Sen. Chris McDaniel in the race last week.

The Club’s new ad pitches McDaniel as a “Constitutional conservative with backbone” who has “stood up to the big spenders in both parties.”

It makes no mention of Cochran, but instead pitches McDaniel as an alternative to business as usual in Washington and shows pictures of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.)

Cochran’s voting record is considered fairly moderate by Southern Republican standards. He has a lifetime rating of 80 from the American Conservative Union. In 2008, he garnered a rating of 68 from the ACU; the only Republican Senators from Southern states to score lower were Mel Martinez of Florida and John Warner of Virginia...

In 2005, he was one of nine senators who voted against the Detainee Treatment Act of 2005, which prohibited “inhumane treatment of prisoners, including prisoners at Guantanamo Bay”. The others, all Republicans, were Wayne Allard, Kit Bond, Tom Coburn, Jeff Sessions, Jim Inhofe, Pat Roberts, John Cornyn and Ted Stevens...

Cochran opposed President Barack Obama’s health reform legislation; he voted against the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in December 2009, and he voted against the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010...

In April 2013, Senator Cochran was one of forty-six senators to vote against the passing of a bill which would have expanded background checks for all buyers. Cochran voted with 40 Republicans and 5 Democrats to stop the passage of the bill.

People are so uninformed in MS that most don’t even know who Thad Cochran is and certainly not his voting record. They would probably bring back John Stennis if they could.

Wicker, after he got the phone calls switched on amnesty. He was still buying the shadows BS.

Was Cochran with the patriot 15 from the start on amnesty?

They were wise enough to give Trent Lott an earful in the street.

I think Cornyn needs to be attacked for what McCain said about Gohmert. These Senators should be attacking their RINO partners. Cochran should have attacked Wicker’s shadows BS.

Indeed it is time for Cochran to retire. I believe that after the 2014 election we will have a Republican majority in the Senate. It will be VERY important that, where possible, we replace “moderates” with true conservatives in 2014 so there will be sufficient conservative presence in the Republican caucus in the Senate to insure CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP. Won’t that be a breath of fresh air?

You're full of it, Theodore R.!

We're INFORMED ENOUGH that we only have ONE statewide elected DEMONIC-RAT!

Find yourself another state to slam.

Wicker and Cochran both came through on the amnesty vote, IIRC.

Wicker is a huge improvement over Lott, but Wicher and Cochran both failed to stand with Senator’s Cruz and Lee.

Shame on them and trust me, I wrote to and made calls to both before and after their vote.

Cornyn is a fraud, and I hope a good TEA Party candidate gives him a primary challenge.

It sure will.

As it stands, we pick up 3 essentially by default.

So, we only need 4 to flip the senate . Johnson, Baucus and Rockefeller essentially erased the 2012 rat victory with their retirements. Thanks guys!

All we have to do is pick off 3 of the following. Begich, Gay Hagan, Louisiana Purchase Landreiu, Mark Pryor,or one of the open seats in Iowa and Michigan, and we won’t even require some upset in a deep blue state to win.

WLOX TV was really pushing cochran last night... they talked about how hard it is to unseat a Senator that has served since 1978. I thought to myself... self... WLOX TV and its liberals just don’t get it!

cochran has morphed into ted kennedy and wicker is a party floor mat. We will rid America of both... one in 2014 and the other in 2016. Mississippi is awake and in terrible pain. We have impacted and infected Senators.
