Docs worried sick over ObamaCare
The New York Post ^ | October 18, 2013 | Carl Campanile

New York doctors are feeling queasy about ObamaCare — and many won’t participate in the new national insurance program because they fear they’ll go broke, The Post has learned.

“ObamaCare is going to send me more patients to see and then cut the payments to provide the care — that’s what’s going to happen,” predicted Donald Moore, a primary-care doctor in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. “I will not accept it.”

Moore claims that President Obama made a big mistake by requiring uninsured residents to obtain medical coverage from for-profit insurers through the ObamaCare health exchanges instead of through public health programs like Medicaid.

Under tremendous pressure to keep costs down and profits up, Moore said he’s concerned that commercial insurers will pay doctors less for patient visits and services than either Medicaid or Medicare.

Many doctors, he argues, won’t be able to cover their costs with such skimpy fees.

Moore scoffed, “Who’s going to sustain the losses? The insurance companies? It’s basically going to be a race to the bottom.”(continued)

You mean all those smart looking people in white lab coats wearing stethoscopes standing behind the prez when he rolled out this monstrosity were just actors? I’m shocked, shocked I tell ya.

Fortunately, our company is keeping it's plan, so I have a stay of execution for maybe 1-2 years.

I just feel bad for those who got dropped and are being told to purchase off the "exchanges."

I'll never sign up for Obamacare. I'm not even going to the website or clicking on any related links. Obamacare mail goes straight into the shredder.

Doctor, Obamacare called, these need to be filled-out before they can pay you.

What’s going to happen is what just happened to my wife’s doctor. She just resigned from her medical group, is opening a private practice, and isn’t taking insurance.

Guarantee, the government will shut down those kind of operations.

Are you really certain you're going to make it past the first renewal date in 2014?

After most of the good doc leave, you will be examined and diagnosed by 100 IQ types. Those types will be members in good standing of the SEIU. That was also part of the plan.

I hope so. I know that I’m good for 2014 itself. 2015 might be a different story.

The proper reaction is to be grateful you didn't get the 80 IQ types.

Hell...To cover the new volume, I expect veterinarians and chiropractors will be primary care physicians before this mess is over

My Urologist is pissed.

My proctologist stubbornly refuses to accept Obamacare. But he's always been anal-retentive.

You think that's bad, my proctologist used to work for Roto-Rooter.

Then let’s see what Bath House Barry does.”

Obama could not care less whether people have medical care or not. He has his own private physicians. Everyone else is on their own.

Sounds like the perfect government economic plan...

Bet most of their patients are covered by some sort of CHIP or Medicaid program. Did some comparison and the rates being paid for these programs are higher than the rates being paid by private insurance carriers for the same procedures.

Big difference though is that we Texas taxpayers are paying for the CHIP and Medicaid participants while employed individuals pay for their own insurance.

Sounds easy but life doesn’t always work that way.

I followed your advice my whole life. I never went to the doctor for anything except two carpal tunnel repair surgeries in my 20’s. I ate healthy foods, never drank alcohol or smoked. I exercised everyday, running 6-8 miles a day and running in 12 marathons, 6 half marathons and 48 10k’s races. I was lean and in shape until I turned 62 when both my knees had to be replaced and I had to have quadruple bypass open heart surgery with a valve repair when I was 63. Both of them due to genetic maladies I inherited from my parents, according to my doctors.

At 65, I still walk 50 minutes daily and work on our farm doing chores and maintenance, but I have atrial fibrillation and high blood pressure that require regular blood work and medications and occasional doctor visits.

So thanks for your advice but like I said, it’s not always as easy as you make it sound.
