Hong Kong (CNN) -- A new report claiming to be the most comprehensive look at global slavery says 30 million people are living as slaves around the world.

The Global Slavery Index, published by the Australia-based Walk Free Foundation, lists India as the country with by far the most slaves, with an estimated nearly 14 million, followed by China (2.9 million) and Pakistan (2.1 million).

The top 10 countries on its list of shame accounted for more than three quarters of the 29.8 million people living in slavery, with Nigeria, Ethiopia, Russia, Thailand, Democratic Republic of Congo, Myanmar and Bangladesh completing the list.

Interesting article. Sad to see that slavery is alive and well throughout much of the world.

I was surprised to see Russia on the list.

Of course, America hasn't permitted slavery is almost 200 years and hundreds of thousands died in a bloody civil war to bring it to an end but we still are labeled as if it was still going on today.

Interesting point...

Slaves have to be housed, fed, clothed and cared for at the owner’s expense.

On the other hand, if one can convince employees to work for less gross pay than it would cost to provide the above to them, it’s possible for employees to be cheaper than slaves. In fending for themselves they will find places to live with friends/relatives/etc., and scrounge by on the cheap as best they can.

In that situation, of course, a US employee would still have payroll taxes withheld from their gross pay.

Of course, employees are not slaves.

But I like to use the term “debt slaves” for this simple reason: the US government borrows from the global banking syndicate, and the only true source of revenue available to pay that debt is Federal revenue, much of which is taxes.

While I like to point out that payroll taxes (not income tax) are “supposed” to be paid into “Federal trust funds” and be “invested”... the only investment they’ve ever made is ... Treasury debt.

So all along, surplus trust fund monies have all been spent by Congress, and the “trust funds” only contain Federal bonds that are only nominally worth a few trillion. Because the only way to redeem them for cash is... for the Treasury to come up with cash. The only ways the Treasury comes up with cash: borrow more or tax.

So, like it or not, even though a low-income earner may think they have not had any Federal Income Tax “due”, or they have even received Federal Income Tax refunds... their payroll taxes have all along been spent by “uncle sam” as fast as they were withheld, either being paid out in benefits or “invested” in Congressional spending.

Employers who do not withhold and remit taxes to the Federal government are dealt with by the government, and they wind up either paying or being shut down.

So for every hour everyone works and is paid, a “piece” call Interest on the debt gets paid to banks, financial businesses, central banks, investment funds, etc. And all of them are “in on” globalism, i.e., the “plan” of new world order.

The last time a checked, I came up with a number over $200 billion per year, which worked out to over $800 per year per taxpayer - every one, even the lowest of the lowly-paid “debt slaves”.

There are roughly 25 million North Koreans. What about them? It’s a damn slave state. And what of Cuba? What of women in the gulf countries?

Why isn’t Mauritania on the list? I heard they still practice slavery under the table.
