Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Tuesday he would vote for a clean CR to end the government shutdown.
Ill vote for a clean CR," Issa told CNNs The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.
Republicans in the House have always been for a clean CR increase if it meant we began the serious negotiations on the kinds of reforms that need to happen entitlements as a shortcut for it. That's what the deal is about right now. Democrats have pressed Republicans to bring a continuing resolutio to the floor that funds the government and does nothing else for weeks.
GOP leaders have argued the clean CR would not have the votes to pass the House, something Democrats say is not true.
House GOP leaders are now trying to get their members to approve a new measure that would fund the government through Dec. 15 and raise the debt ceiling through Feb. 7, but it is unclear if it has the votes to pass.
The bill would also prohibit lawmakers and their staffs from getting employer contributions to their ObamaCare insurance, and would prevent the Treasury Department from using "extraordinary measures" to prevent the nation from exceeding the new debt limit.
Democrats object to those measures.
Issa had previously voted for measures to fund the government as long as Obamacare is defunded or some of the laws other provisions are delayed.
I'm not a republican, btw. I'm a conservative. Those are two very different things.

It's my opinion since the Lois Lerner fiasco that Issa is filthy dirty.
Please don’t insult that slug by comparing him to Issa.
Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants... bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society. Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors. [but hes not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.
DO ANOTHER SEQUESTER
at bare minimum
He was going to root-out Dem corruption when he got the Oversight committee, but he’s been more fizzle than sizzle.
What’s he done? Disappointing. ‘
Now he’s parroting Obama and Reid: a “clean CR (cowardly resolution) yeah, kick that can down the road you fearless legislators, Republicrats.
Issa needs to be primaried. His district is very conservative, and I’ll bet his constituents are unhappy.
Is this the same Issa who is supposedly leading the IRS investigation? No wonder it’s gone nowhere. So depressing...every time you get your hopes up that there’s a Republican with backbone you’re disappointed. It really is just us and the handful of stalwarts - Cruz, Lee, Sessions - a few others...that’s it. The others are Washington hacks.

> Having hammered out a deal to shoot back to the Senate tonight — with most Republicans reportedly on board... Then the medical device tax delay was stripped out, and the “full Vitter Amendment” (no special treatment under Obamacare for Congress, staffers, and White House officials) was inserted in... opposed to stalling or repealing the tax as part of this deal... The delay would look like another favor to big business rather than the little guy... would take the issue off the table as a Democrat-dividing maneuver for future negotiations...
These putrid LITTLE MEN have been in DC too long. Hey republicans... you are a bunch of commie wannabes... except you don’t even make good communists. You are all cowards and unqualified for office.
Issa ain't on our side, period.
You mean the Heritage Foundation can force this to go past the debt ceiling deadline? Do they really have that much political influence?
I'd prefer a budget with the Fair Tax. CRs just escalate the spending.
In the Senate, probably not.
In the House, it remains to be seen. A crappy rating from them can be a death sentence for a member with a credible challenger, and its not like many of them are in districts where Democrats pose a threat.
Obviously it will be a myriad of factors. Democrat overreach (some of it intended I believe) and Boehner’s lack of clout.
Fair enough. But even the Heritage ratings won’t matter that much if Boehner simply calls a vote and gets all the Democrats and a small handful of Republicans do go along with it. So then the Heritage ratings really wouldn’t matter foe the other GOP members - they would only need 17 House GOP members who have completely quit on everything and at this point, it is basically a given that they are there.
BTW, at this point, what should be the goals of the conservative GOP members who are still looking to try and negotiate with the Senate and HW? What should they be looking for exactly at this point and if the Senate and WH do not give them anything, do they have any options, other than simply keeping gov’t shut for months and months? If that is the only option, is that what they need to do?
Hard to say, since I think they’ve compromised too much already.
I honestly thought when it got to the stage where all the rats were defending were their special exemptions, that they would cave... but the media is running great cover for them, so they’re going all the way.
Our guys need to coalesce, tell Peter King to shut his big mouth, and keep pounding the point.
We want exemptions GONE!
If Obama decides to take us into a default deliberately, then we’re in an entirely different ballgame. All hell breaks loose then.
A truly “clean” CR would be one that did not include any unconstitutional or immoral expenditures.
Which, of course, would mean that we would be spending only a fraction of what we are now spending, with no debt pushed off on our un-consenting posterity.
And it wouldn’t be the the form of a “continuing resolution” anyway. It would be an ACTUAL BUDGET.
